Five Guys thread, a 130+ page swordfight. (2 Viewers)

Didn't realize that one of the very small number of shake shacks is 5 minutes from my house. Finally went last week.

As others have stated it's stupidly overpriced. Nearly 19 bucks for a double bacon cheeseburger, small fries and a small shake. The burger was ok but the special sauce they put on it was bitter and overpowering. Didn't like it at all. The fries were meh and the shake was nothing to write home about.

I could see myself trying the burger again and asking them to hold the sauce, but its just way too expensive. Don't see how this place is somehow the rage of the Manhattan burger scene.
Or the stupid long lines at CitiField. Better than the $hake $hack:

Pastrami Sammich (field level)

Pat LaFrieda Steak uber Sammich

The Pig Guy - Super Thick Bacon on a Stick three ways

Blue Smoke BBQ

Pat Lafrieda Burger

Nathan's Dogs vs. Shack's Dogs - AND Fries big time

Maybe:

Two Boots Pizza (heard its not a great operation so dunno)

The ol' Premio freakin sausage and peppers

World Market

Rao's Ceaser Club (never been)

Mama of Corona's (never been)
Get Blue Smoke every time I'm there. Except instead of the combo with cornbread and beans, I have them put in fries and coleslaw. Great decision.

CITI has some great food options for a ballpark

I did wait in the Shack line though

Just smashed a 5G cheeseburger 'all the way'. I resisted the fries, trying to watch my figure. Plus this 5G is located in the food court below my office for this week. I'm sure I will be back.

AM Crunchwrap via Taco Bell, not sure where they got the idea to fold up a tortilla like an envelope but I have to thank the MIT scientists that invented it.

First steak and shake experience this weekend as we drove by ad the drive through line wasn't completely out into traffic. Think it opened on the spring and it's been hopping nonstop.

Five guys is my preference. Don't understand why 5 guys doesn't add shakes they'd kill.

I think they're slowly rolling them out. Ours has them and I was surprised at how good they were.

That's not close to a complete list. I know of 3-4 locations that aren't on that list.
I think thats a list with Shakes - you know of other locations with Shakes?
Yes...that I've been to :bag:

Location here in Rock Hill SC and two in Charlotte. I believe they are beyond the "test" phase of the milkshake experiment. They're in the rollout phase it seems.

Never read this thread. What goes on in here?
Burger talk. 5 Guys generally getting good reviews, In-n-Out gets mixed reviews, people aren't sure about Smashburger, some recent momentum for Steak n Shake, and Shake Shack is getting great reviews.

I've never been greeted when walking into a Five Guys. :excited:
I think he's thinking of Jimmy John's.
The hell I am...
You are the guy that tried to convince me for 90 minutes that Sabarro's was "known for" selling two pizzas smashed together, right? That was you, right?
I honestly thought that's what I was buying 15 years ago when I was a poor college student and considered Sabarro a luxury item....all I remember was two slices of pizza folded on top of one another. If I went their weekly like you, I might have a fresher memory. I've never been to Jimmy John's.
Dude, it's a stuffed pizza. It has the toppings on the inside. They didn't just flip over a pizza on top of another one.
The Double Decker!

Just got back from 6 days in Chicago. Closest I have ever been to a Shake Shack (that I am aware of) but couldn't bring myself to try it out with so many fantastic eating options in the city.

Seriously I'm on Ohio and State and can hit up Shake Shack or Eataly. There is really no choice, I'm not passing up Eataly for any fast food burger.

I went to college in Oklahoma, and they had Whataburger. I didn't care for it - it seemed sort of halfway between Wendy's and Hardee's.

When?I don't particularly like either of those (also went to college in Oklahoma) and rank Whataburger far above every other fast food burger but Shake Shack. Those two for whatever reason stand head and shoulders over the rest to me.

ETA: I have an interview in Dallas coming up and cannot wait to get Whataburger after the interview when headed back to airport. Having withdrawal out here in CA. Also their ketchup is just awesome.

Been to Five Guys location in FL West Orlando location a couple times and burgers & toppings cold, fries cold and way under cooked. Not impressed. When my sons now says pass on them for another burger joint(s) it's on our pass zone. Maybe it's management/owner but you would thing they would improve even if it is the busiest time of the day, quality first. Maybe corp. needs to get involved here.

And yes we did approach the management the first time.

I think you chose poorly.

Had Shake Shack for the first time a few weeks back. Really good but REALLY pricey. People are griping about 5 Guys cost in here, Shake Shack burgers are as expensive and a lot smaller. I got a regular cheeseburger and a Smoke Shack because I wanted to try them both and ended up eating them both in their entirety with little effort. I could never eat 2 Five Guys burgers in one sitting. The two burgers and a root beer (no fries, no shake) was $16.
