Five Trades that need to happen during the Draft (1 Viewer)

It's always fun to play armchair GM at this time of year...
I loved this article and love the exposure you guys are getting. However, I really don't think Lynch goes to San Diego. Just think his off the field issues don't mesh with a team that just shipped Cromartie for similar shenanigans.

I don't like giving up Avril and a 2nd for Albert. I would be in favor of maybe a 3rd. I would jump on a 4th for Albert though.

The #66 pick is our 3rd rounder, not 2nd. As much as I want Suh for the next 10 years, I'd be happy if we made this trade.

Nice write-up - I agree with your assessment of each deal and would be extremely happy if Washington made 1 and 2.

nice writeup, but miami would not trade Thigpen for that little (he is worth more than a 2 spot jump in this draft just as training camp fodder) just so they can face him 2x a year.

I agree with this...I am thinking that White and not Thigpen is the one Miami would try to move....

I see the need, but I don't see the Pats trading for Olsen. For starters, I think Moss will be back. The Pats generally wait til the 11th hour before getting serious about extensions and there were a lot of guys ahead in the extension queue for the Pats at the time Moss griped about potentially leaving. Belichick said he will wait and see how Moss (and others) do this year before worrying about re-signing him/them. This is standard practice in Foxboro.

As for Olsen, I suspect the Pats would prefer someone with better blocking skills. I am fairly confident they will use one of their first 4 picks on a TE, and at that point they would have 1) a younger player), 2) a cheaper player, and 3) someone they can keep under contract longer than they would with Olsen. That and I think they like the guys in the draft better than Olsen and/or they might not want to part with a 2nd given that Tony Scheffler netted the Broncos a 5th round pick. Maybe if the price was lower than a 2nd the Pats might be swayed to consider Olsen . . .

Not with Avril also. You can still get Albert and draft Suh.
Doubt they'd wrap that much money in one position when we have so many other needs, but who knows in an uncapped year. I'd love to see both in Honolulu Blue

In other words, Scott Sicko. I am guessing that Josh McDaniels will use the Scheffler pick to get him. It is going to be interesting to see how high he goes.

Any consideration given to a team trading for Jared Gaither? Once the Lions decide on Suh over Okung, I could see that as a possible move.

Or how about Jamaal Brown?

Eh, I don't see Detroit taking on that much $$ in contracts with Haynesworth and Portis. I think it would be a great trade for Detroit if the contracts weren't so ridiculous. Getting those two for a mere 3rd and Avril is a steal and would really allow Detroit to move down in the draft a good ways and pick up some great picks or just go with the safe pick and snag Okung then. Or perhaps still draft Suh and work with both Suh and Haynesworth...? Wow those two plus Vanden Bosch? Ooohh... I just shivered... :D

As much as I used to like Lynch as a RB prospect, I still can't see anyone willing to give up even a 3rd rounder for a chance at such a headcase actually producing again. There are guys that will be available in the 3rd & 4th rounds that I think the vast majority of teams would be happy to have over him.

They all are reasonable possibilities. Cambell to Oakland, in particular, makes sense. First, we know he is going somewhere. And Oakland is one of maybe three places where he could. None of the QBs in the draft are really Oakland QBs and Cambell is. Why not?

Nice comment...

Big DraftGuys fan, but you're dreaming with #5. The problem isn't Olsen being odd man out in Martz's offense; the problem is he's a one-dimensional TE whose one dimension is "sucking." His hands are inconsistent, his track speed isn't reflected on the field, and his YAC was last in the NFL among TEs last season. Rumor has it the Bears shopped him last month and the best offer they got was a 6th-rounder. I can't see NE giving up a top-60 pick for him.

I believe he meant that Miami essentially flipped their 2009 5th round pick (#142 overall) to KC, for Buffalo's 2010 5th round pick (#140 overall), to have Thiggy's services for the season. Pretty cheap insurance policy, imo. Personally if I'm in Buffalo, I'd offer that 5th round pick for Jason Campbell 1st. Thigpen is kinda fun to watch, but he is NOT an NFL starter, period. Sparkplug off the bench in a pinch? Absolutely!
