Florida boy killed by Neighborhood Watch (4 Viewers)

I am guessing Zimmerman will walk away from this a very rich man. Unless there is some unknown evidence, but I think the majority of it is already out there.
We'll see. Again, I don't believe she would indict unless she has more information that what we know now. But we probably won't find out today.

Well, the mob got what they wanted, a hard charge. It's going to be that much harder to prove though. Seems like this really benefits Zimmerman.

Well guys, it's been a good run. I'm sure there will be more to get whipped up over when the sentence comes down, one way or the other. A few years from now this will be just one of the thousands of anecdotes that makes the rest of the world scared to visit our country.
At least 2 to 1 odds Zimmerman walks, either by a hung jury or outright acquittal.

Not the legal definition but a start

http://www.richardhornsby.com/crimes/homicide/second-degree-murder.html#Definition

of Second Degree MurderThe crime of Second Degree Murder occurs when a person commits either:

[*]Murder with a Depraved Mind or

[*]Accomplice Felony Murder

Murder with a Depraved Mind

Murder with a Depraved Mind occurs when a person is killed, without any premeditated design, by an act imminently dangerous to another and evincing a depraved mind showing no regard for human life.

The primary distinction between Premeditated First Degree Murder and Second Degree Murder with a Depraved Mind is that First Degree Murder requires a specific and premeditated intent to kill.

Accomplice Felony Murder

Accomplice Felony Second Degree Murder occurs when you are an accomplice to a person who kills another human being while engaged in the commission, or attempted commission, of the following statutorily enumerated felonies, regardless of whether they intended the death:

[*]Aggravated abuse of an elderly person or disabled adult,

[*]Aggravated child abuse,

[*]Aggravated stalking,

[*]Aircraft piracy,

[*]Arson,

[*]Burglary

[*]Carjacking,

[*]Distribution of Controlled Substances

[*]Escape,

[*]Home-invasion robbery,

[*]Kidnapping,

[*]Murder of another human being,

[*]Resisting Officer with Violence,

[*]Robbery,

[*]Sexual battery,

[*]Terrorism,

[*]Trafficking in Controlled Substances, or

[*]Unlawful throwing, placing, or discharging of a destructive device or bomb

They do if they think it will prevent riots in their state. They had no choice but to charge him, guilty or not.

Is it just me, or is she comporting herself as if she were about to open "the envelope please," not announcing the filing of murder charges?

I mean, is there anything to smile about??

Tim - she is not indicting him. Please stop using that term. TIAGrand Juries indict. She is charging him, without an indictment.

Murder in the 2nd degree.
question. Why did they not give the option for manslaughter as well? Didnt the casey anthony trial give the option for a number of different charges?
There's a chance they could tell a jury they could convict on a lesser charge if they don't find him guilty of 2nd degree murder.
OK thanks. So basically they charge him with the highest possible, but then can give the jury the option to find him guilty of one of the lesser charges.

You do when you have the whole country watching, a huge angry mob demanding action lead by the biggest race-baiters, and a Justice Department with an army of their top agents snooping around looking for someone to prosecute. There is probably more political pressure to press charges in this case in years. This is a classic of a case of being railroaded as you will ever see.

Yeah. They'd have to get the judge to agree and instruct the jury that way.

Complete and utter nonsense.

Don't trials and not the decision to charge someone usually determine guilt or innocence?

Seriously? After all the protests and such, you honestly think that they could let Zimmerman walk without a trial?

Not a chance....and I am stunned that you would even think that was an option. Hell, once Dear Leader stuck his nose into it, a trial was mandatory.

So when this woman asserts that this is not the case, she's lying. And all the people who are up there with her are lying. Got it.

Maybe we won't have to wait for the sentence to get needlessly worked up...

Good shows can't take too much time between seasons or they run the risk of viewers losing interest. I'm guessing season 2 starts in the fall.

There was never a chance he wasn't going to be prosecuted once this became a lynch mob mentality. Zimmerman may or may not be guilty, I don't have all the facts, none of us do. The prosecutor does, and maybe there are facts there to support the charge. What I believe many are saying is that even if the evidence isn't there, they were going to find someone who would charge him. From a public outcry and tension standpoint that was always the outcome. I think Christo and I even discussed it at some point in these 165 pages. This was a foregone conclusion.

She took this case knowing exactly what she had to do. It is a judgement call, the case just had to be plausible. She is doing her job based upon the reality of the situation.

So what was gained by not charging Zimmerman at the scene, or the day after?
