Food in Reykjavik? (1 Viewer)

What's the best dinner in Reykjavik? As opposed to the fanciest or most expensive. So far I'd say the food has been... OK but expensive, even compared to nyc.

I was there for a few days over the summer with my family which includes two vegetarians.  Great trip but the local cuisine wasn't appealing to anyone.  We had Thai one night and Indian another.

I had the best fish and chips I have ever had there. That wasn't too expensive.

We also went to a steak place that was absolutely great, but it was expensive. Most of the other food wasn't too memorable.

Wife and daughter just got back, exceeded expectations. One non-touristy thing they did was go to a local bathhouse. Off the beaten path, where all the natives hang out to relax. Ask your concierge.

No food advice to give but enjoy!

I stayed at the 101 Hotel and ate there quite often.  Not cheap nor are most spots in Scandinavia but I enjoyed the food + eye candy.  If you're looking to save money, just hit up one of the shawarma shops.

Get the Horse steak at the Steak House or check out almost anything at The Fish Company. If you don't want to spend the coin, get a hotdog.
