If you don't mind waiting a couple weeks Pro Football Prospectus is as good as it gets.Otherwise if you must have instant gratification, then go with the Sporting News. I believe they have local writers who cover the respective teams doing the write ups.
).Lindy's is very good, FF Index is my favorite. Their weekly updates are nice, but you only need the update after the 3rd pre-season game..the others are just repeats of each other, basically a waste of $$..I buy the update after the 3rd pre-season game because thats the last game that teams play their starters for 3+ quarters, resting them during the final pre-season game to allow rookies and those hoping to make the team to show their stuff..I usually get FBG, FF Index and one of either Athlon or Lindy's.Problem with living in Australia is that the postage costs are usually more than the mag itself (exception being FBG). Fortunately at the moment the exchange rate is pretty good.
I like FFI as well. They have some nice features but if I recall correctly, their advise was way off last year. Pretty bad actually.
