Footballguys Magazine iPad Application (1 Viewer)

If you don't have an iPad you are missing out. .....and if your #####ing about the cost skip your latte tomorrow and you can afford the app.
Great Post! My sentiments exactly! You get what you pay for. Make a choice
How about when you pay for a full subscription at FBG and a lot of the staff resources are pulled away to work on an app that you'll be unable to use? (no iPad)I'm happy that iPad users are being charged for the app. Hopefully those revenues go towards paying for extra staffing or extra hours. Otherwise, it's taking away from the website content that I'm already paying for.I'm not complaining though...I think the little contests/games that go on before/through the season are enough to jsutify the yearly subscription cost. Though I'd prefer to see the staff working on something we can all use.
:goodposting: We have been bantering for changes to Draft Dominator and Lineup Dominator for years to no avail.

For me, the $4.99 is worth it to just be able to bring my iPad to the draft instead of a clunky laptop or spreadsheets.

Count me as someone who is happy staff time is devoted to this.

Is this going to be an online app or will you be able to view it offline?
Hi lebowski,The answer isn't totally firm right now but the way I envision it, the answer is "sort of". By that I mean, it's driven by connecting to our Footballguys Databases via the internet. So you have to be connected at some point to access the info. BUT, there will be caching so you can still see content if there is currently no internet connection available. We're still working out the details exactly there - sorry to be not totally clear.J

I'd buy this if it was useful on draft day. What will it contain and when is it available?
Hi Leeroy,We hope to have it available in early June. It all depends on how the Apple store approves us. It was designed specifically for being useful on Draft Day. The Draft Mode isn't nearly as robust or powerful as the desktop Draft Dominator. But I think it's an excellent and easy way for folks to run the draft. Stay tuned - we should have screen shots and much more info in the coming weeks.J

Did we ever get an answer about offline stuff?
Nothing definitive...lebowski, on 02 June 2012 - 07:33 PM, said:Is this going to be an online app or will you be able to view it offline?Hi lebowski,The answer isn't totally firm right now but the way I envision it, the answer is "sort of". I would assume that the staff is simply producing content that will be shared between the Full Subscription and the iPad Magazine, and that there are a couple of programming minions (like myself) that are doing the dirty work to format that content and create the app. It is alot of effort to think about what and how something will be displayed on an iPad, but I would assume most of the staff's resources are focused on doing what they normally do..FF content.

Seriously considering buying an iPad for both this app and to use NFL Game Rewind's app. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter? I remain on the fence because of the price tag.

If you sit on the couch and surf the Internet a lot, there's no better way to do it than on an iPad, regardless of a FBG iPad app or not (IMHO)

Any answer to this question?
The official answer (at least for now) is that you need to be connected to the internet to view the magazine. We're working on caching solutions but for now, the answer is you need to be connected. I'd rather give you the answer for where we are right now vs the hopeful answer.J

Hang tight here as we hope to be able to announce the scoop for you on this today. It's a pretty radical change from what we'd been envisioning and I think it's one you'll like for the better.

More here soon.

So whatever happened with this?

I'm trying to decide what to buy. I don't care how much it costs. I just want something that works on draft day. Do I get the iPad version or do I get the laptop version? I'd rather use an iPad to be honest.

But how do I make the decision with nothing to see or compare?

The iPad/magazine version is no where close to DD. I would go as far to say that the magazine version is unusable for drafts. So if you want to use DD you are stuck in the dark ages of laptops.

agree will be either using a laptop this year or checking out other apps. Draft Dominator is an awesome program just wish you could use on ipad. How different is the ipad os than mac anyway? (not a programming person at all...just curious.
