The level of science education in this country is atrocious. I especially liked the link to the car that supposedly only runs on water ("to catch the attention of the oil industry") and the totally uncritical comments afterward. As others have pointed out, the car in this article is not running on salt water, it is running on a battery with metallic salts as the electrolytes. That's a big difference, as it requires energy inputs to produce the specific salts that can then gradually transfer electrons and end up at a lower energy state. There is no free lunch. the laws of thermodynamics ensure that. There are no cars that "just" run on water as a fuel either. There's always a catch (i.e., another energy substantial energy input to break down the water).
