Former staffer accuses Joe Biden of sexual assault (3 Viewers)

I think assuming the Republicans will win the house is funny.

I think after throwing fits for months claiming Biden would be impeached immediately if elected is funny.

His son’s jobs long before Biden was elected are not an impeachable offense.  Nor was Biden enacting official US policy with bipartisan support.  Obviously previous claims of sexual harassment are also not impeachable either.
Nothing is really funny and the results are never a lock. That is why we play the games.

This was 1973. There was no police report at the time or any corroborating physical evidence, so there is no truth to be found out at this moment.  It is as good or as bad as the Kavanaugh allegations which Republicans completely dismissed because it was a "He said, She said" from over 40 years ago.

It is hilarious that Trump defenders who never cared about "Grab em by the #####" and 17+ allegations of sexual misconduct about Trump, suddenly want to know the truth about this almost 50 year old charge against Biden
So your limit is between 1973 and Kavanaugh?  Got it

OP said 1993. Is that wrong?

Whole lot of people ready to throw out their #metoo conviction to put a sexual predator in office.  This is disqualifying.
The hypocrisy is simply off the charts.  It's amazing how suddenly we're not supposed to believe all women anymore now that one of their own is on the receiving end.

Several issues here. True or not, does this disqualify him as a candidate? If so, can Trump run again? If Trump can run, why does this disqualify Biden?

That's a lightning fast race to the bottom if that's the standard we're applying these days.

We have three (maybe just two) choices. What do you suggest we do? Trump is the R choice whatever he's done. Do the Dems jettison their prohibitive favorite without definitive evidence of wrongdoing  when we are fighting for the soul of our country?

Well, that's not the point, is it?  Those who held 30 + year old allegations of Kavanaugh with ZERO evidence as ABSOLUTE DE-FACTO PROOF now need to make a choice:

  • Stand by their supposed "morals" and believe everything this woman says because, y'know, #believeallwomen
  • Show their hypocrisy
What say you?

When it comes to the soul of our nation, I'll take the guy who committed a despicable act 25 years ago over the guy who ####s on us on a daily basis.

I understand that. But . . .
If digitally raping a woman isn't disqualifying to you, by all means have at it.  I believe what Reade was saying.  Biden was plenty awful enough before this, but at least he had the veneer of a 'return to decency' to some people.  This is just beyond the pale despicable.  No thanks

I think most Trumpers treat the allegations as "he said, she said".  The problem is that MeToo people didn't treat the Kavanaugh allegations as "he said, she said" but appear to be treating the Biden allegations as such.  We'll see how this plays out, but consistency would be a good thing if you want to forward you movement.  You can't pick and choose who you go after based on party affiliations.

the metoo movement brought down al franken over a photo

Did you listen to the excerpt?  It's a 7-minute blurb.  It sounds convincing.  Are you going to acknowledge the actual substance or just attack the character of women making a credible sexual assault allegation?
I've been thinking about how to reply since you first responded to my OP on this. I feel like I should respond to that fist then come back and review what you have here, because frankly I haven't even considered this yet because of who is claiming it. Speaking of which since since yahoo obviously felt this did not meet their journalistic standards  has there been any professional journalistic reporting on this at all?

Until recently, Clinton got a pass on this as well.  The media is slow to go after Democratic politicians on sexual abuse.

We did actually have Trump on tape saying “grab em by the #####” and they still voted for him. So, yeah, let’s talk about Dem hypocrisy now. Come on.
Exactly...I don’t think many dems are saying don't let the woman be heard...haven't seen the narrative that she is just out for political retribution and brought out by the deep state.  Pretty much none of the rhetoric that we saw out of Trump supporters about his accusations.  But yes...its the dems who are the hypocrites...

I agree with your last phrase

If true, it’s despicable.

However, Trump has had 25 such allegations.  When Biden gets 24 more, then I’ll change my vote.

Even if this is how most Democrats feel (and frankly it blows my mind that this is how democrats really think), Biden having even a single accusation just causes him to lose any leverage he had on the topic.

What's he going to say?  "You're a serial sexual predator" and Trump will turn around and say "So are you, google Tara Reade"

Sure...he shouldn't say a word about it.  And already I don't think that would have been a strategy for Biden anyway.

Biden specifically has a lot of these issues... at a certain point you're attacking Trump on 20% of what a Bernie or Pete/Amy/Warren etc could have gone after him on.

Sure...I was a Pete guy and prefer Amy to Biden and just about anyone.  At this point...Looks like Biden is who the people have chosen.

Maybe this whole pause changes some things.

And for the record i dont think this is disqualifying.

But i also didnt think it was disqualifying for kavanaugh either, so i am not a big hypocrite. At least not regarding this matter.

This thread should be merged with Ren's thread expressing outrage about Trump sexual misconduct allegations. You know, the one where all of the MAGA crowd were saying those reports appeared legit and should be thoroughly investigated.

There isn’t two dozen pictures of President Trump getting handsy and smelling woman like with Biden. In fact, I don’t believe there is one.
And there isn't one video clip of Biden saying about women that he likes to "grab em by the #####" and they let him.

We don’t know this actually.
I am sure if there was anything even remotely like the Access Hollywood video, it would have surfaced by now and have received 24/7 coverage on Fox, Brietbart, Daily Caller plus several Twitter hashtags. No one is holding this for a November surprise.

Not true, these audio clips fall out of the sky preciously one week before an election. So we can’t know for certain until then.

The choice isn't between Joe and a saint.

It's between Joe and Trump, and on ALL relevant counts, Joe is the runaway winner, even on issues surrounding treatment of women.

I'm not dismissing this allegation but it does seem to stand out in isolation.

While Trump literally paid off a porn star he was sleeping with while his wife was pregnant in violation of campaign finance laws just a few years ago.  This is undeniable.
