What happens if a player doesn't sign his franchise tag by the deadline? Or is there a deadline? I thought there was a deadline of July 16th. Vincent Jackson held out until like week ten, but I don't know if he was under a franchise tag. As I recall, I think he was just a restricted free agent. Forte seems pretty intent on holding out for a contract. So, if that is the case, he may be reluctant to sign the franchise tag. And I think they are pretty far apart in the contract negotiations. So I am curious where the situation stands if he refuses to sign the tag and they don't get a deal done.
