According to FOX Sports' John Czarnecki, "it sounds like (Frank) Gore will be inactive due to a bad ankle."
Hmmm. I guess this news immediately raises the question about Kendell Hunter's value against the Eagles defense and those huge running lanes they leave open.

Over the years of playing fantasy, I've noticed that few people are more consistently wrong than Czarnecki when it comes to early Sunday injury news.

He really is horrendous. I'm not sure which is worse - the fact he is still allowed to make these types of predictions even though he's rarely right or the fact RotoWorld continues to post his info for player updates. Probably both.

NFL Network's Albert Breer and ESPN's Sal Paolantonio both report that Frank Gore (ankle, questionable) will start Sunday against the Eagles.

Earlier this morning, FOX Sports' John Czarnecki wrote that Gore would be inactive. We feel much more comfortable trusting the two well-connected reporters on this one. Though Gore is likely to suit up and start, there's a big question mark surrounding his ability to be effective. Rookie Kendall Hunter figures to have an increased role as Gore's backup, and may even get more touches.

oh oh

From the twitter-verse

Kendall Hunter will start at tailback for San Francisco. Frank Gore will play.

Confirmed hunter is starting, not gore. Gore is playing.

edit- sorry i should have quoted that i was responding to sal page confirmed what..

Odd that Hunter is starting but Gore is expected to play. You'd think Gore as the vet would at least get the first snap so long as he was going to get any at all. Not sure what this means (other than stay away from both this week?). Id think if you are desperate, Hunter would be the play with more upside and less zero potential.

Awesome Info from Sigmund Bloom

@MaioccoCSN After Jim Harbaugh watched warmups, he decided to go with RB Kendall Hunter as starter over Frank Gore.

Got both Gore and Hunter - think Hunter is the easy call as the healthier option coupled with the announcement that he's starting. If the game follows a script where the Eagles get up early, you have to believe Gore will be resting that foot and Hunter/Dixon will see all the work.

Hoping for Hunter to get 50 rush/30 rec and chance for a TD.

This sux, gotta bench Gore today. Rolling with CJ and Woodhead I guess. :X

This means Gore will come in and bust off a 80 yard TD run.

This situation is too dicey to bench your other players for Hunter. I don't think they'll run that well against the Eagles anyway. Just my thoughts..

:goodposting: The "Czar" is notorious for just basically guessing first thing in the morning so that he's first. I usually go with the opposite of what he says as he's wrong so much.

I feel better rolling Hunter out there them Greene this week, I want no part of that Baltimore D against a mediocre Running game.

Not too dicey when you already lost Charles and your other best option is Jacobs. At 1-2, I will roll the dice and hope he starts well and thus they lest Gore rest. Plus, he should get some receptions as the fall behind. I am assuming the Eagles will get ahead and that SF will tend toward resting Gore and not getting him hurt.

He's basically a desperation option. I thought about playing Hunter over Harvin, but I just can't.

since cadillac can put up 91 yards on 19 carries and philly is avging like 135 against them on the ground, theres no way its a desperation play
