Gore out with broken hand
Running back Frank Gore sustained a broken right hand during the morning practice. He is expected to miss at least a week with the injury. Coach Mike Nolan said Gore will be re-evaluated next Monday.
The bone is expected to take four weeks to heal, so it is uncertain if Gore will play during the exhibition season. This means that Michael Robinson, Maurice Hicks and Thomas Clayton will get extended work during training camp. Nolan said the club could also look to add another running back to the roster.
Silver lining - He won't play in the pre-season and risk a possible torn knee. A broken hand is not that bad, as long as it heals properly and doesn't require surgery.
You would have to be in a league with complete morons. What fun would that be?With any luck he'll fall some in drafts.
A guy can dream can't he?You would have to be in a league with complete morons. What fun would that be?With any luck he'll fall some in drafts.
That's right, he'll wait til week 3-4 to do it. LJ holding out and Gore banged up...lots of uncertainty after the top 2 right now. Glad I helpedmove our draft from next weekend to end of August.Silver lining - He won't play in the pre-season and risk a possible torn knee. This is the best possible news for Gore owners imo.
This is the best possible news for Gore owners imo.gotta love this place
Exactly my first thought when I read this. This could be a blessing in disguise. A broken hand with no tendon damage should heal just fine, and he'll be fresh and ready to dominate the regular season. This will be a dream for people who draft in the second half of the 1st round, a real chance to grab him later than he should go.![]()
We'll at least he has his left hand as a body part that hasn't been blown so far.Left Knee - Torn ACLRight Knee - Torn ACLLeft Shoulder - BlownRight Shoulder - BlownRight hand - BrokenAm i missing any other injuries he's had? I though i remember a foot/ankle injury from college, but not sure as he had so many injuries it gets confusing.I think he is a solid pick in a re-draft, but extremely over-valued in dynasty leagues. There is no precedent for a guy who has had so many major injuries, how a body can hold up long-term with that injury history is unknown, and therefore very risky.
So your saying Gore is in line with the league avg. for injuries vs age and/or experience?Let me just make sure I've got this straight.Last year a RB who had missed 4 games in 4 years breaks his hand and now heads into this year with the "injury prone" label. Now we have a RB who has a horrible history of severe injuries that breaks his hand and it's a good thing with the words "injury prone" nowhere to be found.Riiiiigghhhttttt...
Smart move, my leaguemates won't have none of it, early draft always. That's right, he'll wait til week 3-4 to do it. LJ holding out and Gore banged up...lots of uncertainty after the top 2 right now. Reminds me of all the obsession over SA's foot.Let me just make sure I've got this straight.Last year a RB who had missed 4 games in 4 years breaks his hand and now heads into this year with the "injury prone" label. Now we have a RB who has a horrible history of severe injuries that breaks his hand and it's a good thing with the words "injury prone" nowhere to be found.Riiiiigghhhttttt...

Injuries are a good thing, it's the new wave of FF thinking.

It would be hard to lead to more fumbles. Didn't he have like 6 in the first 5 games last year (only counting fumbles lost). IMHO, his propensity for puting the ball on the turf is his biggest question mark this year. A broken hand for Frankie is a bigger problem than it might be for most other RBs***Don't get me wrong, I'm taking him at 9 if he falls that farOk, don't panic. Just stay calm. Lot's of time to heal. It won't lead to more fumbles. Everything will be ok. Don't panic, stay calm, lot's of time........![]()
are you kidding, now he is BIONIC!!1!Frank Gore. A man barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man. Frank Gore will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster. We'll at least he has his left hand as a body part that hasn't been blown so far.Left Knee - Torn ACLRight Knee - Torn ACLLeft Shoulder - BlownRight Shoulder - BlownRight hand - BrokenAm i missing any other injuries he's had? 2 of the top 4 with big question marks at the start of camp. Drafts will be interesting this year. If I had a 3-5 I'd try and ttrade down a few spots. Those drafting in the next few weeks do you let him slip past #4 and even out of the top 5 or 6. Who slips ahead of him now. I had LT, LJ, SJAX and Gore in my top 4.

I also once cut open my finger while spreading some Miracle Whip on my bologna sandwich when I was 8 years old, and I had to wear a GI Joe band-aid for 3 weeks, so yes, that does seem like a pretty quick recovery time. I definitely would have fumbled more, had I been an NFL running back at the time. :(All joking aside, it sounds like you've had some experience with breaking your hand, but, you also probably didn't have an entire medical staff of expert doctors, rehabilitation specialists, and team trainers dedicated to assist in the recovery process. That said, any injury that sidelines a top player for any length of time should be concerning, so I think the "blessing in disguise" talk in some of the posts may be a bit too optimistic and premature here.I've broken my hand 3 times. Both 3rd metacarpal (one spiral fracture that was a real SOB) and a 4th metacarpal. 4 weeks seems like an awful fast recovery time for a guy who will actually have to carry and hang onto the ball, no?
I have to agree. This thread is full of people that own Gore, it is obvious. I mean, I own him too, so I'm not ripping on him because i am wishing I had him. I think Gore has almost zero chance of not missing a handful of games over the next few seasons. His shoulders were BAD before last season began. Somehow he played on them, but I just don't see how a guy with his injury history can't be considered injury prone lol. One season is nothing, play 3 injury free before you can just wave off injury-prone labels at will please! We'll at least he has his left hand as a body part that hasn't been blown so far.Left Knee - Torn ACLRight Knee - Torn ACLLeft Shoulder - BlownRight Shoulder - BlownRight hand - BrokenAm i missing any other injuries he's had? He's a he11 of a lot better than Biakabutuka was. Gore was just shy of 2200 yards last year. This is a guy that had an injury riddled college carear with multiple knee surgeries and he just misse3d the 2200 yard mark in his first season as the full time starter. He is a stud and his talent level far exceeds Timmy Biakabutuka, regardless if he ever plays a complete season again.Very bad comparison IMHOI really like Frank Gore, but he is starting to remind me a lot of Tim Biakabutuka. In fairness, at least Gore has one stellar season under his belt. But I get the feeling he won't play many full 16 game seasons for the remainder of his career. Even the aging Fred Taylor hasn't had the type of serious injuries that Gore has already experienced in his short college and pro career.
