Frank Gore (1 Viewer)

Those that are sitting him in the final weeks here speak volumes to his current value. His future value will be further diminished because of age and Kendall Hunter (and maybe somebody better than both of them moving forward..you never know..could be Marshawn Lynch for all we know). This falls in line with my thinking that he's already hit the wall. He may rear his head in a game or three moving forward but his days as a reliable fantasy commodity are a thing of the past.

Sitting him next week. Thanks for the decent year Frankie!
Same here. Likely going with Antonio Brown over him unless Ben sits. Pretty good season from Fank Gore overall. I think he's 4th in the league in rushing. Not bad for a guy so many people get down on constantly.
But I thought he looked like Frank Gore to you? I don't know how you sit such a valuable commodity? :sarcasm:

He has. The 49ers seem to be decreasing his workload leading up to the playoffs and they're in a matchup with the Steelers. I have other options with better matchups and workload consistency. It'll be the first time he's found the bench all season, and that decision is still pending, of course.

Ah, then you were one of the guys lucky enough to be still winning despite him this past month. Me, not so lucky. :kicksrock:

Need to decide between Frank, Beanie, or K. Smith (to go along with Lynch).

I'll be at the 49er game Monday night so there's extra incentive for me to put him in my lineup. However, I just can't see more than 15 touches total for Gore in this game - especially against the PIT D. I think we'll see more 3 and outs for the Niners than we've seen all season and more than the usual 3rd and longs (when Hunter will enter the game). If Big Ben plays it could be even more of a disaster for Gore with the Niners playing from behind from the get go.

Frank has done a great job this season, and I'm not throwing in the towel on his career just yet like some others in this thread. However, this is a very tough matchup for Gore. I'll likely go Beanie and Lynch this weekend....

I'd make that move easily..

I would be starting Kevin Smith. As a matter of fact... I am starting Kevin Smith over Gore. Even if Kevin doesn't play.

On Sunday, running back Frank Gore had just 10 carries against the Cardinals.

On Monday, Niners coach Jim Harbaugh said Gore wasn’t 100 percent healthy.

On Thursday, Gore wasn’t on the injury report, a full participant in the first full practice of the week.

Today, Gore spoke to the media for the first time this week to answer the question of … what’s going on here?

Before Gore spoke, offensive coordinator Greg Roman did his best to not shed any light on why Gore had such a modest workload against Arizona.

“Now, wait a second, a couple weeks ago you guys were complaining that we were running it too much,” Roman said. “Now you’ve flipped the switch, huh? Every week it’s different, the strategies are what they are. I’m not going to get into strategy.

Was Roman told Gore wasn’t available for his typical number of carries?

“All conversations are kept internal,” he said.

So, there you have it.

Here’s the highlights from Gore’s Q&A:

Q: Why didn’t you have more than 10 carries last week?

FG: Because that’s the game plan. Me and Kendall were in and out of the game and I guess that’s how the game was called.

Q: After the very first play of the game, you left the field and went and sat down. Were you injured?

FG: No, I just had to get my mind right. I was good. I was good, man. I kind of landed funny and I had to shake that.

Q: Arm?

FG: Yeah, my arm. Yeah.

Q: Is sharing the carries with Kendall designed to keep you fresh for the playoffs?

FG: I feel that any back in this league who, at this time of the year, can share carries here and there can remain fresh. Last week, the game was called, different personnel. And Kendall’s personnel got called pretty much. I’m fine, man.

Q: How much do you really have to focus on the run game to be successful in the red zone?

FG: We have to focus on everything. It’s not just the run game. We’ve got to score touchdowns, whether it’s running or throwing the ball, we’ve got to do both. We’ve got get better in the red zone.

Q: On Monday, Jim Harbaugh said that ‘Frank’s not 100 percent.’ Are you 100 percent good?

FG: I feel good. I’m good. Everybody in the league gets nicks and bruises here and there. It’s the 15th week. NFL football is a physical sport. I’m good enough to go out there and try to get my team a win. Do the best I can.

Q: Do you agree with the philosophy of resting the workhorse back so he is fresher towards the end of the season?

FG: Well, right now we’re just trying to do whatever it takes to be successful. When that time comes and it’s the playoffs, we’ll try to whatever it takes. If it’s that, and my coach wants to do that, I can’t do nothing but go by what he says. Right now, Monday night, we’ve got a good team coming in the Bay Area and we want to go out there and get a win.

Q: It doesn’t sound as if you think you need to be rested.

FG: I’m good. Like I said, whatever my coach wants. If he wants me out there, I’m out there. If he wants me and Kendall to go, I’ve got to do what he says.

my gut tells me he will be more involved this week in a key game for SF. The OL is a major concern, as is the fact they are not utilizing his pass catching abilities... they are more concerned with using his blocking/blitz pick up to keep Alex from turning the ball over. I see 20+ touches in a charged MNF game. What he does with them is anybody's guess.

20 touches....I have a hard time seeing that considering he is a non-factor in the passing game now. I know I might kick myself later, but I'm not rolling with Gore this week. Probably gonna roll the dice with...gasp...Chris Ivory  :banned:

18 carries and no catches. I traded for him halfway through the year in Dynasty to help me during playoffs (Bradshaw just got hurt) and am disappointed with his production. I think he could still be an effective RB in both the real world and FF, but he will have to rely on TDs... and SF/he has been horrible at short yardage/power this year(according to FO rankings). Maybe he can have a Fred Taylor like career and be a RB2 until 31. His OL will have to get a lot better for this to happen

All things considered, I think anyone who started Gore last night was happy with what they got.
