"Fit" = not being able to hit for ####?but they nabbed Dan Johnson who is a better fit.
Toronto really did Thomas dirty in this whole thing.
our GM is american... just saying.11 RBIs through 16 games means he was still on a pace for 100+ RBIs. Dumb move by Toronto and shady. Damn Canadians.

He asked to be released. It was his choice, because he didn't want to be a team player and platoon at the DH position... if the plate appearance were such a big thing, I don't think Toronto would have trotted him out there everyday last year during his 3-4 month slump. He had a two year combined plate appearance clause.Toronto really did Thomas dirty in this whole thing.
How's that?Toronto really did Thomas dirty in this whole thing.
I heard he was a primma-donna in the clubhouse. How's that?Toronto really did Thomas dirty in this whole thing.
To me, it appears that the Jays are serious about winning this year, and they need to win games now. They can't afford to have a cold FT in the 4 or 5 hole waiting for him to get hot. For some reason, I guess FT feels it would some sort of insult to be bumped to 7 or 8, where he could get his ABs and get on track for the stretch run, so the Jays have to release him. You can't leave him on the bench or platoon him, because he will piss and moan and become a clubhouse cancer like Hillenbrand was.I guess FT sort of painted himself into a corner with his reputation and consistantly cold play to start the season. The Jays really have to make every game count to keep up with Boston and they can't wait for FT to get up to speed. Last year, by the time FT got going, they were already out of the hunt.I heard he was a primma-donna in the clubhouse. How's that?Toronto really did Thomas dirty in this whole thing.
Uhh, not with that contract.Once Mike Sweeney goes down for the year, I think the A's scoop him...

Has anything been done yet?I'm assuming the corresponding transaction will be to call up Lind?
Lind had a stiff neck, so they called up some scrub catcher. Bad timing for Lind.Has anything been done yet?I'm assuming the corresponding transaction will be to call up Lind?
Jason Stark stated this morning on Mike & Mike that the two teams who may be interested are Seattle and Oakland. He said that Thomas may insist on getting some guaranteed money for next year though from whoever signs him so that may complicate things.Early rumors have the Mariners as the potential front runners with Vidro disappointing and Clement still developing as a C in AAA

Please be the Rangers...please be the Rangers....Frank Thomas was close to signing with the A’s on Wednesday until another team made an offer at the last minute, a baseball source told Yahoo! Sports' Tim Brown.
Brown previously wrote Wednesday that a deal was set to be finalized, but the article was then yanked and has now been revised. The mystery team could be the Mariners or Rangers. Brown's article provides no clue.
