Once we was past his prime though. Most of his problem was trying to go full bore with such a low body fat percentage for that portion of his career. I believe it was right around 3% and simply too low to absorb the punishment he took.

That fact that the "Fragile Freddy" nickname stuck with him is a shame. He played less than 13 games only 3 times from 98-08, and less then just 10 once. Averaged less than 4.6 YPC only once from 98-07 (throwing out his 2 game 2001 season). Had it not been for a poor supporting cast during his prime that limited his TDs, I think Taylor would be regarded in a much higher RB stratosphere right now.

HOF talent for sure, but not a HOF player. But I think all failed to have HOF careers, and you can't necessarily pin that failure on them.

Taylor was always a notch below Dillon, who was a notch below James. It will be a shame if Edge doesn't get into the HOF. From 1999 to 2007, no player in the league had more rushing yards than Edge, no player had more yards from scrimmage, and only 3 players had more TDs (LaDainian, Priest Holmes, and Shaun Alexander).

The key number with Fred is 2,534, his career rushes. If his career attempts got even into the 3k range which is not uncommon, based on his career average he'd be close to 14k yards which would put him in rare company indeed. Edge for example had less than 1,000 more yards with almost 500 more rushes. The great Curtis Martin had around 2,700 more yards on 1,000 more rushes. But unfortunately for Fred it didn't happen and that will very likely keep him out of the Hall.

Im surprised Edge outrushed LT during those years, especially since I remember Edge missed at least half a season one of those years.

Edge had a 2-year head start during that timeframe. If you compared Edge's first 9 seasons to Tomlinson's first 9 seasons, LT had 883 more rushing yards and 61 (!) more TDs.'Kenny%20Powers said:
