GA Tech Wr's (1 Viewer)

For a school that boasts a run first approach they have produced some absolute stud WRs. First Calvin- Stud, then Demaryius-Stud...Better grab Stephen Hill while you can. Raw but you can tell he is already there physically. Dude is going to be straight beastin' this time next yr.

Are there any Ga Tech wr's im missing

Calvin Johnson could've gone to Georgia instead of Georgia Tech, he was highly debating it. Could you have imagined UGA's offense with Stafford, Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, Massaquoi, and Knowshon Moreno in 2006?

But yeah, Georgia Tech gets a lot of good WR's because all these kids grew up in Georgia and they're studs.

Johnson and Thomas were both recruited by Gailey. Johnson played his whole career with Gailey and Thomas played for him as a freshman.

Still not buying on Stephen Hill being a particularly good NFL WR.

When I've watched Hill so far, it seems like he is dropping too many catchable balls. No idea how representative that is.

It would be nice to see how he does with Tebow in there throwing. Thomas had a nice close to the season with Tebow last year.

I tend to agree. While his measurables are impressive, he lacks technique. He let's the ball get into his body too much, which is most noticable in the drops. His route running is not crisp. But who knows, with proper coaching he could blossom in 2014. I honestly don't think it's realistic to expect much the ROS or even next year, except as a boom-bust deep threat.

The talent is there, and if his work ethic matches it, he will have the opportunity to succeed.

Thomas was indeed recruited by Gailey, but he honed his skills under Johnson. His physical style, in particular his run-blocking, was a huge part of why he was drafted in the 1st round.

Pretty good, imo. Hill frustrated the heck out of GT fans because of his drops. I'm talking about wide open on a 70 yard post pattern drops here.

He's also very young (turned 21 in April). He wasn't an NFL-ready player coming in but neither was Thomas and he was 2 years older as a rookie.

Calvin didn't play for Paul Johnson, so he's a bit of a different beast. He played under Gailey his entire career in a more traditional (but still run heavy) offensive system.

Bebe and Hill are both guys who played in the current flexbone system though, and there's a couple of young ones that might be interesting in a bit as well. I think a big part of what happens with guys who play WR at GT is that the things valued in the offense (physicality in the run game, the ability to attack deep balls in the air, breaking big plays by yards after contact) are hugely valuable in the NFL and not found all that often in college star WR's. So while GT WR's aren't maybe ready to run complex route trees, they are more ready than most WR's in a lot of other areas for the NFL game. And they are all huge, because Paul Johnson loves huge physical WR's.

I think in the end, the strangest thing is that Johnson's system is so run heavy - but the WR's might be much better NFL prospects than the RB's.

Great point about Hill's age. True about the drops but Hill has also had some real nice games this year. I guess what impresses me most, and the jets too ;) are his physical attributes. He's a big guy already (and I bet he puts on more muscle) and he runs like a deer!

Same issues he had when coming to the league, read and heard questions about Hill's willingness to learn in college so I'm still pessimistic about his pro prospects. No doubting his ability, but it means nothing if he doesn't take advice. I'd be more optimistic if he had a real QB to smack him around because then we'd see if he'd get it or not, he has the QB copout now so he's the type you'll unfortunately have to give 3 years of rope to find out. I'd rather use the roster spot on something else
