Gale Sayers Rules (1 Viewer)

This guy is straight forward, never seeks the limelight, has a great personality without trying to be anything except himself.

Did I mention he is also the most talented offensive player to ever play the game?

Love me some Gale Sayers... if only they had the amount of tape/highlights of him as they do of players today. I could watch for days on end.

Always been my fav RB of all time, and I never had a chance to see him play.

I agree he was great, having seen him play....unfortunately for me though, I only saw him against my Packers, where he routinely made mincemeat of their "D" and "ST"....even though I was still a kid I was still sad at hearing about his knee injury that ended it for him, as when a great one leaves the game early, he takes some of the game with him, IMO....

Sayers was the best pure runner I ever saw, the most elusive ball carrier there ever was. Only Brown was better than he was. His vision, ability to change directions and speed combo ... just incredibly amazing. Brown is the best of all time, but Sayers is still my favorite.

I liked the way he made Deion squirm in his seat when he started talking about how much today's players are "Me Players", and that they celebrate every tackle, run catch, etc. I wish he had thrown into the conversation that players celebrate a tackle after the defender just ripped off 12 yds on 1st and 10, but we know what he meant.

Sayers & Butkus - A Football Life - now on.

Chicago got them back to back in the 1965 draft, has to be one of the best drafts of all time.

The Chiefs and Hank Stram also drafted Sayers, that would have been really interesting, Sayers in that offense, it might have changed Super Bowl I.

22 TDs as a rookie.

Arguably this was the greatest single NFL game performance ever:

12/12/65 vs the 9ers:

9/113/4 rushing

2/89/1 receiving

5/134/1 punt returns

346 total yards, 6 TDs.

For some reason Halas pulled him at the 2 yard line, where he would have likely had a 7th TD.
