The Washington Redskins reached an agreement with wide receiver Joey Galloway on a one-year contract that will give the 37-year-old wide receiver a chance to play his 16th NFL season, according to a league source.

Galloway will try to win a spot on the Redskins' roster when Washington gathers for its next minicamp in two weekends. The Redskins have been looking for another veteran wide receiver, and they believe Galloway has the chance to provide them with some long plays.

Galloway caught seven passes for 67 yards and no touchdowns last season, averaging 9.6 yards per catch while playing for New England and Pittsburgh. The former Ohio State receiver has 689 catches for a 15.6 average during an NFL career that began in 1995, but he hasn't had a TD catch since making six for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007.

From 2004-2008, Galloway and Redskins general manager Bruce Allen worked together for the Buccaneers.

While together in Tampa, Galloway caught at least five touchdown passes in each of the first four seasons they spent together.

Amazing to me is the fact that this was actual breaking news as opposed to some fluff opinion thread, and not one response in 4 hours it's up.

That is a telling statement on the path of Joey Gallaway's career. A couple year's ago, he was a WR#1, putting up nice stats. Now he's fighting to make a team.

NFL......not for long
