Game of Thrones....too late to catch up? (1 Viewer)

My wife and I haven't seen a single episode of this but she wants to start watching it because everyone is talking about it at work

Is there a fast way to catch up?  Any good summary websites?  Do I really need to spend 50 something hours of my life watching all the episodes? Is there as much nudity shown as I heard?

It would be very hard to jump into without knowing

Heck, ive been watching since day 1 and I get lost sometimes

Why not start at the beginning?  It is an excellent tv show.

when you start a new book, do you start on chapter 25 or do you start at the beginning?

It is soo worth it to binge watch this show.  In fact, I'm kind of envious that you get to watch it for the first time with all the episodes out at one time.  If you watch the first season and don't like it or get it then hard stop cuz it likely isn't a show for you.  If you end up where most of us did, however, you'll probably be hooked and you'll plow through multiple episodes over the course of a weekend and then stay up later than usual during the work week to catch up.  It is a great watch.

And yes, lots o'nudity of both persuasions.

Watch an episode a night for a couple of months. It's a fun show. But for the love of Og, DON'T go into that massive train wreck of a thread here about it.

Why are you making it sounds like watching all of the episodes so far is work?  I wish I could wipe them all from my memory so I could enjoy them all over again without already knowing the outcome.

Some guy in the GoT thread started it 3 weeks ago and is caught up now.  It's rather addicting.  Most episodes are set-up episodes and most episodes also end with a tease so it will really make you want to keep going on to the next one.  You won't want to go to sleep.

If you're looking for something akin to porn I suggest Spartacus instead.

So now I understand why my wife is watching...

Fast way? No. You want to watch the whole series. No jumping in midstream or it will take much of the joy of the show out of it for you. There is a good amount of nudity- pretty much par for course for a HBO show I would say.

Don't do a summary website if you can help it. The TV show is scattershot in quality compared to the books but, even so, you're better off binging. I have seasons 1-5 on BluRay and will send them to you guys if you're interested.

With TWD on hiatus and FTWD sucking hard, I needed something to fill my Sunday nights.  Wife's a huge fan, so I took it upon myself about 3-4 weeks ago to binge watch.  Work has been slow so I watched 1-2 episodes a day and would watch a half or one at home at night before bed too.  Got all caught up and now watching "live".  I highly recommend it.

I was thinking the same thing.. I have an HBO subscription and haven't watched a single episode, but have heard all the buzz..  Looks like I should start binge watching..

HBO Go is beautiful... if you have iPad or tablet... or just on computer, good there too.

It is a great show with a lot of different subplots, keeping track of all the names can be challenging though......
I was honestly afraid of this and in the beginning thought I might have to start writing ish down, but it wasn't that challenging at least from my standpoint.  It helps to come here to discuss or talk about it in person with someone else who watches.

Is it difficult to understand with all the crazy accents?

As a warm blooded, gun toting, big boobie loving, Bud Light drinking Merican, sometimes I have trouble understanding British accents.

it probably also helped that you watched them all in a row - 10 month breaks in between seasons makes it a harder to remember the more obscure characters and/or plot lines that in some cases don't show up for entire seasons at a time

I'm probably losing my hearing or some ish, but I find that using closed captioning works wonders.

That's very true, my wife mentions that she's forgotten certain people / plotlines.

I miss the binging    ... so last night I started watching The Man in the High Castle.

This. There's a few shows I watch with it on, or turn it on for stretches.

For a show like this where people complain about remembering all the character's names, it can be really helpful. They often tell you who is speaking if the person is offscreen during the dialogue.

I watch with closed captioning on

The books can't show you that Marjorie gal naked. And she's pretty fookin' sweet.
This may be the best post in this thread, and Marg isn't even in the Top Ten of naked women on that show. The boobs on random-actress last week were magnificent.

My wife and I binged watched the first 5 seasons in one month. We watched 2 episodes almost every night and sometimes 3 at a time on late weekend nights.

Once you start.....you won't stop. Best show on TV in the last 10 years easy for us.

Cast it to a TV and leave awoiaf.westeros.org open on your tablet.

I almost posted the same thing earlier this week. They were damn near perfect. Great minds, yadda yadda.

The 1st three seasons in particular are some of the best visual storytelling of all time (movie or t.v.). Skipping those just to get caught up would be a shame.

I typically have a hard time with accents especially British ones, but I only very occasionally have a problem with Game of Thrones.

Just got done the first two episodes of season one. It's not bad. Some quick observations without any spoilers:

- Triple H from the WWE cast as Ned is pretty awesome.

- Similarly, Dave Navarro as the dravakoian guy boinking Khaleesi is a great casting.

I'll keep watching for now.

I never saw an episode either. Medieval stuff is not really up my alley. What game do they play? It is like musical chairs but with thrones?

I convinced  a friend of mine (who was very skeptical of the fantasy/medieval aspects) watch the show. After the first 4 episodes, he was like, "it's ok but when is something going to happen". I talked to him 2 days later and he was starting S2. He was all like, "####### Thrones man, that #### is crazy".

Watch Season 1.   If you don't like it after the whole season is over then I'd bail
