Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (3 Viewers)

Me too. I almost quit immediately after the opening scene with the nights watchmen running into the white walkers - I was thinking, great another zombie show, no thanks. I stuck with it to the end of the episode, and Jamie pushing Bran out the window so nonchalantly hooked me. Such great writing through the 1st 3 books.
I felt the same thing when I read it. I heard raves about the books and the first chapter is about zombies and I almost set it down. That just wasn't my genre and still isn't despite being a huge Walking Dead fan. The best thing he did after opening with the walkers was to pretty much forget about them for about half the book or more. I remember by the time they came up again, I wasn't quite sure what he was talking about because it had been so long since the walkers had been mentioned.

Well that's hopeful at least  HBO taking a page from Martin's book it seems. I would rather they get it right than rush through it but 2019 for a finale would blow.

HBO programming president Casey Bloys told Entertainment Weekly that Season 8 of Game of Thrones may not hit TV screens until 2019. The EW interviewer asked Bloys, “So as of now, the final season could air in 2018 and / or in 2019 depending on their needs?” To which Bloys responded, “Yeah. They have to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule. We’ll have a better sense of that once they get further into the writing.”

If they wait two years to show six episodes, that would be really ####ty.

It seemed like the interview kind of lead them to that response through a series of questions.  I'm not sure why it would take them that long to make 6 episodes when they've been doing 10 (great) episodes in half the time up to now.

Maybe the last thing we can't talk about in here actually will get released before the show ends.
Yeah, maybe Martin is trolling us and writing both books at the same time and releases them before the show finishes.

(I highly doubt that, but it would be great)

you guys told me it was gonna be awesome, highly recommended, great show, etcetcetcetc

YOU NEVER TOLD ME IS WAS GONNA BE THIS AWESOME! THIS GREAT! HOE-LEE-#######-####!

Seriously though, stay out of this thread and anything else GOT related anywhere.  So many spoilers that people take for granted.  Just enjoy the show and come back when you're done.

i am perfecting the art of only checking direct quotes from my posts ... that, and the ocular equivalent of putting fingers in the ears and going "lalalalalalalala" when i peruse - have not seen/heard one spoiler yet  :D

just that i am digggin' it so much, and didn't need/want to start a new thread, ya know?

btw ... she's all growsed up now - how in the holy hell is Sansa not being mentioned in all of those 'top chick' threads?  dunno if she's been discussed already up in here, because i don't wanna backtrack on the series, but  ... she's a remarkable beauty

oh, and "Mophie"

I hate to be the one to tell you... it's all downhill from here.

11. Remember... this one goes to 11. You honestly haven't even scratch the surface... Enjoy!

:excited: :loco:   :excited:

i used to think "Sopranos" season two (the Richie Aprile era) was the greatest single season for any series. ever. bar none.

used to.

After pop-up bars dedicated to Christmas, “Stranger Things,” cherry blossoms and Super Mario, the Drink Company team is turning the former Mockingbird Hill, Southern Efficiency and Eat the Rich spaces into five settings evoking George R.R. Martin's novels. (Doors open June 21, just a few weeks before Season 7 premieres on HBO.) Immersive rooms include the House of Black and White (where you'll find a Wall of Faces made of molds of employees and friends of the bar) and the Red Keep, where you can pose for a photo as House Bolton's flayed man. There will be dragons and house banners, of course, though the real centerpiece will most likely be a full-size replica of the Iron Throne, which co-founder Derek Brown says “is going to be totally ridiculous.”

Sounds cool.

:D

this news makes me tingle  :lmao:

can't wait!
You need to get through season 3 at a minimum before you come back in here. If you loved season one, you've got some great things on the horizon but you need to stay pure.

Sopranos at its best. Breaking Bad at its best. Thrones at its best.

Really hard to pick one above the others. It's like having 3 supermodels in the room and you have to pick one to have sex with. There are no losers.

I just finished watching all 6 seasons back last night.  Did it over a 3 week span.  Less than 5 weeks away.

Well, if its 3 supermodels and you, and you can't spot the loser...

I watched the 1st season and then read the 1st book.... was pretty much verbatim as the show, so I opted to just watch the show instead going forward. I think people said the subsequent seasons varied from the source material a little more than the 1st
There is a LOT more in the books than the show. Entire story-lines, some of which actually seemed important

Sinn Fein kinda beat me to it, but I was actually going to go with the super model being the loser in this situation.

OK, so who was the guy with the flaming sword and the eye patch.

Love the line at the end:

When the snow falls and the white wind blows

The lone wolf dies but the pack survives

I think that is Sansa trying to rally everyone to the real threat. They all must fight together. I have to assume some of the major factions will team up to fight the walkers and that others will team up to take them down once they beat the walkers (or what's left of the walkers if the whites win).

Dondarrion....from the Brotherhood Without Banners.

ETA: The Dude The Hound killed back in the woods near Harrenhal back when Arya was running with HotPie......the guy who doesn't give up on gravy.

The way they framed that Sansa line with Jon fighting north of the wall, I took it to be more sinister. Sacrifice Jon for her agenda.

Damn that trailer was awesome.

And yea, I would take some additional filler for two full seasons.  I've never complained about getting too much GoT.
