Or just noticing he's the only one they've shown with a crown-shaped growth of icycles on his head.The dude with Craters son was the same dude on the dock at the end. Know you guys don't want any back story but there's nonspoiler info out there on the WW and the undead.It does figure that they have 20mins of CGI zombies and everybody gets their GoT boners back.
Joking aside, I am not usually one to get caught up stuff like that, but I even enjoyed that last battle. Good times. I still think the other plots could have moved more, and that overall this season has been a dud, but gives me hope that it is ramping up.
I am not a huge fan of the walking skeletons, but those kids were creepy as hell. Brought me back to that great opening scene of the very first episode. I am still not sure WTF they are doing with the zombie hoards, as it seems they are slightly different every time (unless I am missing something). We see the creepy things in the first episode, then the animated dead bodies at the wall that attacked the commander, then we see a slow moving army seemingly heading toward the wall, then the dude with Craster's son, then independant skeleton zombies way north attacking Bran, now a mixed bag of an army controlled by the White Walkers that look nothing like what Sam encountered. Just expecting them to be flying by the time we see them next.

Yeah, he seemed super focused on untying some ropes or something...gave no ####s about wights.Watching as they float (for some reason not rowing) away, looks like there's a dude in a cloak sitting on either end - maybe for balance?You didn't notice anything, other than the fact that he seems completely unfazed by the thousand zombies right behind him while he has the boat docked?I re watched again last night and still have no idea what they're talking about. If it's the lifeless mannequin who's sitting with his back turned in the boat, I didn't notice any particular focus or oddity about him.

However, if you go to about 58:10 in to the episode when the giant walks by, you can actually see the cloaked guy's face. He looks just as scared as everyone else and is all panicky as the giant walks by, not some cool hooded figure that is not phased by anything like in the other shots of him. I think in the other scenes he was just told to stay still and not be distracting.

I wonder if Dinklage / Tyrion has had any impact on the public's stereotypes about Little People. Even if just on a subconscious level. Watching his character has probably been more exposure to LP than most people have had, and it's so very different than a lot of the roles they often get.
I struggle to think of leading roles for LP that don't tap into a comedic element, and where the LP is portrayed as being not just normal but exceptional to the point you admire the guy. Heck, hard to think of significant supporting roles for that matter.

I guess what struck me was at 1:54, it looked like Jon had to wake him up.
Again, I am not reading anything into this and don't think it means anything. I think it was just bad direction of an extra.

What I find more interesting is not only that the boat was still there (after the panic of five minutes prior), but also that there are no people in boats or in the water at all. Then they push off from the doc and you see a good 50 people getting jumped by the zombies/walkers and still noone in the water.

Two possibiliies:
(1) All the other boats and ships disappeared due to some myesterious force that may or may not be explained in a subsequent episode, or
(2) it was an artistic choice made by the director to set up the dramatic panoramic shot that at the end of the episode.
I am sure it was #2, but YMMV.

Reminds me of the horric "acting" by the extras in the Braveheart battles. The one time is actually prefer they go back and replace them with cgi.

One thing I didn't get, why did the insurer turn down the man asking for insurance? If he's shady and doesn't pay out to the families, why would he turn someone down? Wouldn't he just take the money and not worry about having the pay out?
Also I originally thought he said vanilla, had to rewind and turn closed caption to see what he actually said...then it made way more sense.

Seeing that, it's clear that it wasn't the zombies/WWs that are afraid of the water, it's the Wildings/Free Folk that are afraid. As seen in the video, they all stop before the waterline. haha

Everyone is assuming valryian steel can kill WW like dragonglass but that wasn't my initial thought. When I first saw Night King's reaction to Snow killing the WW I thought he sort of recognized Snow was someone special, not necessarily because of his valryian sword. My theory is if he already knew valryian steel kills WW he wouldn't have reacted with surprise or acknowledgment. The way he did react it seems he realized something about Jon Snow, and it wasn't that he was just wielding a valryian sword.

Watched your clip and I'd say the opposite. He stared at the sword in surprise, and Jon only briefly after.
It's been 8000 years since they went forth in the world, if he's a newly made white walker like Craster's babies, he might not even know what valyrian steel is.
Even if he did know of it, who would expect to run into a valyrian steel sword in a wildling camp?

I think you are off.
Valryian steel is very, very, very rare. Hence the Lannisters, long the richest House in Westeros, never had one until they took Ned's and eventually melted it down. I think the surprise of the WW could be explained a few ways: They have not come across Valryian steel before or have in ancient times and it is lost to memory to them. The WW does know about Valryian steel but did not notice and/or expect to encounter it.

I was referring to how the King reacts, not the WW Jon kills.
Regarding the WW Jon kills he does seem shocked and stares at the sword, but maybe because he's just shocked it didn't shatter?
I could be way off in my interpretation, can't wait to see how things shake out.

FWIW, earlier in the scene Jon grabs some random sword to fight with. It shatters as soon as it hits the white walker's blade. 2:20 - 2:30

Ser Jorah Mormont's grey scale gets worse and he ends up going amongst the Stone Men in Valyria, the ones that attacked he and Tyrian and gave him the disease in the first place.
While there he rediscovers how to make valyrian steel. Either passes on the knowledge, or possibly gets cured or his disease held in check by the Lord of Light, or by the same method that stopped it in Stannis's daughter.
Edit to add something about Gendry being the one to forge the valyrian steel, so we wrap up the pieces of all these other plot bits nicely.

Yeah that's a pretty big hint that it's the valryian blade and not Snow, it would make sense to show the contrast between normal blade and valryian steel.
Maybe the King Night's reaction is OH CRAP something can kill us...Not about recognizing Snow as someone special....

Gendry was an apprentice to a Flea Bottom blacksmith. Tywin Lannister said there were only three living smiths who could still rework Valyrian steel. Hardly think one of those three would be working as an apprentice to a Flea Bottom blacksmith.

I have not read the books, but it seems to me the series is called the Songs of Fire & Ice for a reason. It is pretty clear who the icy forces are now.
The question is, who embodies the fire that can oppose them? Dany and the Dragons are certainly a clear and obvious choice. But let's not forget that Stannis has a spiritual asvisor who is a high priestess of the Lord of Light. And the Lord of Light and his followers seem to be very closesly associated with fire as well.
The process of elimination tells us that in the ultimate showdown with the White Walkers, the Barytheons are pretty much irrelevant, which pretty much rules out Gendry as a pivotal character. If there is a key person, and I am not sure there is, that person is either going to be wielding the power of the Lord of Light in some fashion or is going to have Targaryean blood.
