Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (4 Viewers)

I know you enjoyed all the chit chat and characters reminiscing but keep in mind...

No talk about how they will defend themselves against the dead dragon.

Speaking of dragons, no talk if their two dragons were able to get enough food and will be ready for battle. They are by far their best weapon. Why?

It's like they focused on having a ton of people in this episode just so they can validate killing them soon but steered away from a worthy plotline.

Bad episode.
OH OK

Totally agree. Should have spent more time discussing dragon food. And what about the latrines? There's thousands of people.

You should be in charge of writing these episodes.

Were you in "too much time spent riding dragons" camp last week?

The only scene I didn't care for was the one with Missandei and Grey Worm.  Why would it even be a question whether or not they'd live their life together at Winterfell?

Or was he talking about all of Westeros?  I guess that would make more sense, since they probably consider King's Landing and Winterfell as one place, but it sounded at the time (to me) like Winterfell.

I knew this was going to be another filler type episode and as such, it did not disappoint. Some great lines. And lots of loose ends tied up satisfactorily. I'm glad. That means we have 4 episodes of "hold my wine and watch this" to go!

Yep, Bran knows it was Jamie. Question settled.

Yep, Dany knows about Jon's lineage. Settled. (at least her finding out was settled, the rest may not even matter depending on if one/both live)

Off tomorrow, so rewatching it again to see what I missed the first time.

Podrik's song is important. It's a song about a woman morning the dead right?

From the second he starts singing, we see

Brienne and Tormund....

Gilly and Sam....

Sansa and Theon....

Arya and Gendry...

Greyworm and Missandei...

Sir Friendzone Jorah...

And then Jon and Dany in the crypts.

All the guys die if the song is their story....

The latter. She's from someplace warm far away...she mentioned missing the beaches and that her people aren't warriors.

Saving Jamie, imo
They already finished their arc. Hound and brienne would give balance to their fight earlier.  Brienne and tormund would be... weird. Brienne saving sansa or Arya might make the most sense for her character, but we'll probably get super arya saving brienne instead.

I don't think this is going to be literal.

And no way Sam dies. It ends with him writing the story of fire and ice. His speech tonight reaffirmed that for me.

Not plot related but maybe a bit PG-13

deleted...no need to make the target on my back any bigger

Some random thoughts...

1. Half expected Dany to fire Tyrion and name Sansa her new Hand

2. Speaking of Tyrion, I think he got back a little of his mojo.

3. Gilly looks pregnant, but no mention of it.  Maybe it's just the actress is in real life but they didn't want to write it into the story?

4. Really wish Bran would say something that would prompt Sansa to order him launched from a catapult.

5. Sam telling Jorah "I hope we win" gave me Princess Bride flashbacks.

#GameOfThrones and

#GameOfThornes

Are both trending on Twitter and the gifs/memes are fantastic.

ETA: also #giantsmilk :lmao:

I think there's unrequited/not-umderstood love left between their story, which why I see her saving him

6. Didn't know where the 'Brief Nudity' from the warning at the beginning was going to take place...until Arya took off her gloves. Then it was a classic car wreck; you don't want to watch but you can't look away either.  That has to rank as one of the best secrets they were able to keep.

And no mention of the incest. I think I might have started there before getting to line of succession.
Kinda goes to the heart of what Sam was asking Jon about her last week.  Her first thought when hearing the news is about the threat to her claim on the throne and not about the incest.

Arya now has the true heir in her belly should Jon and Dany die, right?
I remember someone posting a while back that Gendry had no claim because he was not an acknowledged *******, and it is too late for him to become one after Robert died. It made me wonder why Joffrey had sought to have all rumored bastards killed, if none had claims. Wish I better understood these rules..

Two things I also noticed/thought during the episode. The Gilly actress is so pregnant it's distracting, with no story reason given.

I am with Floppo that it wasnt actuallyMaise.  Maybe that's why it was kept a secret easier.

This kind of episode or chapter or act before the big battle is a staple of storytelling.   The warriors tell their stories, sometimes make their peace, and sing their songs.

The fireside scenes were amazing in every way in that context.
Some of my favorite scenes of the whole show.  Hell, maybe my favorite.  It was like "here are all your favorite characters*; say goodbye now."  Every moment perfect.

*Other than Bronn.

There aren't really any rules when you can kill whoever is on the throne and their family and then declare yourself king, like Robert did. That's the "secret" and why the politics of the Game of Thrones matters so much, having the right name only matters as long as more allies want to support that name than there are enemies who want to supplant it. Whoever is in power could legitimize a ******* under any circumstances. It doesn't really matter how long Robert has been dead, the sitting king or queen can make it official and the Baratheon line lives on. Stannis, who thought himself the rightful king, offered to do it for Jon long after Ned had died.

Ok, I am kinda doing family stuff.
