Game of Thrones, tv only, books don't exist, no backstory...NERDS already ruining a series that hasn't started (17 Viewers)

“Not much was publicly known about Cogman’s idea, aside from George R.R. Martin’s remark that it was “set during a very exciting period of Westerosi history,” though not much is known about any of the potential Game Of Thrones spin-offs, only one of which is in production. That one, which comes from Jane Goldman, stars Naomi Watts, and is set during the Age of Heroes, is said to explore everything from “the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers” to “the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend.” Martin wishes it were called The Long Night, but it probably won’t be.”

Well, this is the same group of people who's big plan is was to run up north and kidnap a white walker last season.  ;)
I've been contemplating all of these idiots and the awful stuff they do to each other. Maybe I'll start pulling for NK and the infinite winter wasteland.

Some notes:

  • I'm too lazy, but here's my Bran meme: John Snow hugs Bran, Bran replies, "I. AM. A. ROBOT."
  • Mrs. Dogg is certain that Jamie will kill Cersei. I would love it if Arya had that honor.
  • Series writer Bryan Cogman's potential Game Of Thrones prequel series has been axed by HBO.
  • Podrick has a wonderful singing voice.
  • That scene where Jaime knights Brienne really choked me up.
Seems like the easiest way is to come in on a dragon(s), early morning, and just flambe' the Red Keep and hopefully Cersei in it. The Red Keep is right by the water, so you could get a couple runs in torching it before anyone knew what was going on. Golden Company doesn't have AWACS.

So any chance that Jaqen H'ghar fell for a studly ******* blacksmith on the road, had his advances rebuffed, and decided to play the long game and Aryas training to use her face and get in Gendy's pants?
When Gendry first appeared last week watching Arya shoot the arrows, I swore I was Jaqen (was dark and he was in the threshold just watching)

I know I'm stating the obvious here, but I've probably read/heard about multiple theories on how it's all going to end...and there's so much validity to so many of them.  Just speaks miles for how amazing this show has been.  I literally can see it going so many different ways.

We have to let all logic go. Or the ice dragon would have already killed everyone ready. Just send it ahead. Before the dragon glass weapons. Game over a year ago. But, its HBO, it's TV. So whatever.

We already saw how the WW originated.
Sort of. We know that the first men created the NK. We now have a NK with a massive army of WW's and Wights and an undead dragon. There is a lot in between. This seems to happen every few thousand years. Why? Where do they go during the intervening thousands of years? How did the deal with Crastor come about? How do the WW's forge their weapons? What is their relationship with the Weir trees? Do they have any other weaknesses other than dragon glass and valyerian steel? Why are they susceptible to valyerian steel? Why dragon glass? How were they dispatched in the past? Why does the wall stop them? One would think with all that labor, they could easily chisel and tunnel through the wall near an unmanned castle.

Makes me think that maybe we won't see how they originated at all in this series in order to get folks excited about the spinoff.
I was not expecting too much more about them heading into this final leg regardless of spinoff.  Not sure which one of us is in the minority here.

mild spoilerish nugget from 8.3 trailer, regarding Dany's dragons

Dany's dragons spotted flying above the battlefield in a brightened-up version of the trailer: dracarys

the troops seem to not be fighting, so one would surmise this is pre-battle still

Feels like a lot of spoiler risk clicking on things like that.  I just remember last year how much spoilers were out there for the whole season...
I agree, just seems silly at this point. There are 4 shows left and the next is possibly the greatest battle scene ever put on film. Why people gotta over analyze a handful of stills taken from preview for the upcoming episode by lightening it up, well, I guess to each their own. Not real interested myself.

I really didn't read the whole thing, but there were no spoilers. I honestly thought they were talking about a still from episode 1 or 2. I didn't realize it was from Ep 3 until I started reading and even then I didn't see any spoilers, but I didn't read the whole thing. I remember them talking about the crypts not being so safe which has been examined in here at length. This thread has covered way more potential outcomes than the link.

So Cercei's plan is to let everyone else take on the NK and his army and then take down the battered winner? If the rest of the living (minus the Lannister army, the gold cloaks and the Golden Company), lose the battle then the NK will be traveling on down to KL with a much larger army than what the NK just took down along with three undead dragons. Her plan only works if the living win.

No, I know.  My friend showed me that article last night too.  Just being wary of what to consume...

the period around the Long Night is probably the one that has the most mystery left that they can explore with a prequel. how the 'last hero' eventually defeated the WW.

at first I was hoping for something with Aegon the Conqueror, but we pretty much know how all that turned out...he came, he saw, he kicked some ###.

it would be awesome if they made a prequel focused on Essos way back in the day. how the Valyrians became powerful once they discovered dragons, developed magic, then either wiped all other civilizations off the map or forced them to migrate to Westeros (i.e. Andals & Rhoynar). then they whole thing can end with the Doom of Valyria. that would be dope.

Maybe she figures if the Northern Army can't beat them by themselves her army wouldn't tip the scales, this is pretty much her only play.

There was a major leak of those first 4 episodes last year, this year the sportsbooks are taking a decent amount of action.

Nothing similar this year?
With the amount of action the books are willing to take on it, I think its fair to say that only the creators have seen final cuts of the episodes.

Far as I know they went as far as filming multiple endings to limit any damage the cast or crew could cause to the story line.  I would say between this and Avengers Endgame, more money was spent than ever protecting the storylines.

ETA:  Last year's leak was a complete technical fluke involving the actual HBO on demand platform.

Maybe her plan is for the northern army to take heavy losses and then the golden company marches north and torches everything and everyone with whatever wildfire is left

But if the northern army is wiped out, the WW's are even bigger and there is no chance she can win.

Just came to me but what if Cersei see's the error of her ways, marches her army north and ala the Knights of the Vale, swoop in at the last minute as the army of the North is getting it's ### kicked and turns the tide to help defeat the army of the dead?

Won't happen because I don't know how you fill two more episodes and it doesn't really resolve the, "who sits the throne?" issue these last 8 years have kinda been centered around. Nevermind

AND we've seen that maneuver already. We need something new here.

Think Melisandre plays a role, she said she was going to Volantis and that she would be back.
Yes, I think she plays a huge and posted a fan theory that I support regarding it. She will be back in a big way IMO.

Why would dragons flying over the battlefield be a spoiler?  WTF else are they gonna do?  More joyriding to waterfalls?

Official Most Lazy Comment Per episode

E 8.1 - They needed to show Jon flying a dragon so we know he can in a battle situation.

E 8.2 - Guys, I'm not sure the crypts are safe.

E 8.3 - TBD - Prediction:  We waited 8 years+ to see the NK roll over to a half-### plan?
