Please, let's respect accuracy here.As a kicker, it's make or miss. There is no barely make or badly miss. Choke or not, it's very simple for kickers, even the best of them. See Vandy & Vinatieri.

Have you seen the game yet? Didn't think soAnd you may want to stop posting until you have a clue about football.Did you even watch the game? I guess not...It is stupid. As a strategy, next year teh Colts might want to plan to not get the first round bye so they stay sharp. It was clear today that it took the offense almost 3 quarters to start clicking. I really think the time off hurt them.
It might sound stupid, but the Colts might want to go for a record of 11-5, instead of 13-3 or better, just to ensure that the offense stays sharp. You should probably stop posting until you watch the game buddy.

you call it not playing very well. i call it choking. not surprising.I really dont like Manning but I dont think Manning choked today. He just didnt play very well.
He missed the tying kick against the Pats in last years season opener after the Colts had made a nice comeback. When you write something like that, it's not unfair to ask you to back it up. Just what kicks have Vanderjagt missed besides this one that makes it fair to give him this rep?I'll be holding my breath waiting for an answer.Vandy is clearly a graduate of Scott Norwood's school of mental toughness, racks all kinds of garbage points but can't hit a big kick.
People hate that kickers have some say in the outcome of a game, so they're willing to throw them to the dogs for the slightest thing. It's wrong.
Vinatieri is STILL the gold standard for pressure kicking. 1 miss yesterday does not change that.Vinatieri sure did have trouble with his opportunity yesterday. I wouldn't be using his name as the gold standard.Vinatieri sure didn't have trouble with all those 40+ yarders as the clock ran out in the playoffs. Wonder what would happen if they were on opposite teams the last 5 years...Would people call Brady a choker because the kicker, and not Brady, missed those kicks in the Super Bowl if they ended up losing?
you and about 1,000,000 + Steeler fans!! BOGUS call that should cost some refs theor jobs..If they would have lost due to that "supposed" INT, I would have driven to the "supposed" ref's house and murdered him. Its my bday today and I almost lost my ticker......
It wasn't a perfect game-plan. The playing not to lose attitude in the second half almost cost the Steelers the game.God, I hope a few things don't get lost in the anti-Manning, Dungy, and Vanderjagt stuff...
Roethlisberger played like a champion today.
The Steelers defense played an exceptional game.
The Steelers coaching staff implemented a perfect game-plan from the start, trusting Roethlisberger to get them the lead and their defense and running game to hold onto it. The players went out and executed it.
You think it was a freak Bettis fumble? The guy looks like Martin Lawrence from Big Momma's house. With a belly that big, no way could he tuck the ball away properly. He couldnt have gotten 2 hands on the ball if he wanted to.big time playes dont have guys making excuses for them and blaming other team members on internet message boards like this one.
big time players win so the finger point and blame defecting is never an issue.
manning isn't big time. blame the offensive line, the pass rush, the play calling, the kicker all you want.
they won 13 straight, went 14-2, had home field throughout, were playing a team they manhandled two months ago, and they still lost.
and it woouldn't have even been as close as it was if not for the worst officiating call since the tuck rule and a freak bettis fumble.
manning is a loser. deal with it.
the refs tried as hard as they could to bail him out and he still couldn't do it.
They didn't play not to lose at all. A team that's playing not to lose doesn't go for it TWICE on one drive near midfield on 4th down.Running the ball for the Steelers is playing to win, but I don't expect everyone to see it that way. The Colts made adjustments to prevent the Steelers from passing, so they had more success running the ball in the 2nd half.It wasn't a perfect game-plan. The playing not to lose attitude in the second half almost cost the Steelers the game.God, I hope a few things don't get lost in the anti-Manning, Dungy, and Vanderjagt stuff...

I'm a Steeler fan and totally agree- play action would have been deadly in the 2nd half... they played well enough to win though, despite the bad calls...It wasn't a perfect game-plan. True but they didn't attack the Colts secondary like they did in the first half. They could have put the game away and the announcers stated that as well. They didn't play not to lose at all. Cowher is 102-1-1 when his team leads by 11 or more for a reason.
I was amazed by that call as well. However, the refs announcement sounded like the call was based on some rule like the "Tuck" rule. He said "The defender lost control of the ball before his knee had gotten up from the turf." Polamula's left knee knocked the ball out of his arm while his right knee was still down.I wouldnt be surprised to see clarification from the NFL on Monday about some obscure rule.you and about 1,000,000 + Steeler fans!! Actually, it was Bettis' first fumble of the year and he rarely, rarely fumbles. It was shocking to see it happen and have the season nearly end because of it.You think it was a freak Bettis fumble? The guy looks like Martin Lawrence from Big Momma's house. With a belly that big, no way could he tuck the ball away properly. good post-- thanks!Just got home from the game. There is not a fan more sick than I am right now. The Colts had a great regular season. Vanderjagt sucks. He has been a changed kicker ever since he and Manning had an exchange of words two seasons ago.
This team will not be excellent until it makes it to the Super Bowl. And that will not happen until drastic changes are made to the defensive philosophy.
I am sick. That game was pure agony to watch.
Congrats to the Steelers and their fans. You deserve the glory.

And, to add, the idiot kicker has missed the 3 biggest kicks in recent Colts history. All the kicks he has made has not made up for the 3 big kicks he missed (two in the playoffs - one @NE last year).Just got home from the game. There is not a fan more sick than I am right now. There's your answer Jimmy James. Vandershank=Scott Norwide of the new Millennium. He will be forever remembered as the drunken loud-mouthed schmuck who shanked the kick at the end of this game and slammed his helmet like a little punk.
Im doing the old knuckle shuffle on the piss pump......
Great win on my bday!!!!
T.M.I............. :XThis coming from the guy who kept posting that the Colts were getting jobbed by the refs.I'm amazed at how this place just erupts after one small tiny miniscule call goes by that maybe might have been wrong. Let it go guys.I really hope there is an inquiry of the replay officials-- no way should those officias still have a job after that interception overrule... that was an absolutely horrendus call.. so bad, that I almost want to say 'fixed'.. just brutal!!
Totally different. I made a judgement call based on what I observed and simply came here (this is a game thread right? I can make comment about the game here, correct?) to make a slight mention of it. One little possible misstep against the Stillers and the place just erupts. Of course not, you can't fumble while sitting in a recliner watching the playoffs.Rudi J never would have fumbled there.
One possible little misstep? First of all, the call was right on the field. The replay official overturned it in the most egregiously poor decision I have ever seen on a football field. The game was effectively over there and the official basically gifted the Colts a second chance to win. That is unforgivable. It's not like the called a false start/offsides incorrectly. There's a reason why people erupted - Steeler fans AND NON-STEELER FANS ALIKE. People can see what is right and worng, unlike you.... who is obviously still so bitter over the Benglas loss that the best way you can think of to spend your time is to try to disparage the Steelers and devalue their victory. And you have the nerve to tall other people to let it go.Totally different. A few of you n00bs in this thread should learn from this post. This is how you conduct yourself with class. Thanks, pizzatyme - hats off the Colts on a great season. You guys will be right there next year too.Just got home from the game. There is not a fan more sick than I am right now. The Colts had a great regular season. Vanderjagt sucks. ]Seriously, terrible towels down?![]()

i wouldnt say hes blaming them but he sure wasnt being a good teammate.Just saw Peyton Mannings post game news conference, and he said, "I want to be a good teammate and all, but we definetely had some protection problems". SO he's blaming his offensive line for the loss.
Vandergajt simply said that he had no excuses for the missed FG.
Wow. You think I'm bitter over the Bengals loss? Is this what this is all about? One possible little misstep? First of all, the call was right on the field. Have fun watching us in Denver next week.
Ok. Have fun in Denver. I'm done discussing this because you Stiller fans seriously won't let it go and that's really unfortunate. I will be watching you guys in Denver and seriously praying Ben doesn't shred his knee.
Sore winners.
Words can't express how much I want to see Jerome Bettis score a TD in the Super Bowl.Seriously.The Steelers seem to be a team of destiny so far.
There is no chance that the Steelers will beat the Broncos in Denver. The Steelers rush the ball 57% of the time (1st in the NFL), and the Broncos finished the regular season with the 2nd rated rush defense in the league. The Broncos rush the ball 52% of the time(2nd in the NFL), and Pittsburgh has a spectacular rush defense. These matchups should be great, but the entire game will revolve around the pressure put on Ben. If Al Wilson can get to Ben, than he'll have trouble getting the ball to Hines Ward. If Champ can stop Hines, the Broncos will win with ease. One possible little misstep? First of all, the call was right on the field. The replay official overturned it in the most egregiously poor decision I have ever seen on a football field. Have fun watching us in Denver next week.
He should have just said, "I want to be a good teammate but if I was playing behind the Steelers line we would have won today......"anyone see Manning throw his entire OL under the bus?
"I want to be a good teammate, but we had some protection problems"
