It's hard to understand why so many dislike Manning and like to see him lose.

It's hard to understand why so many dislike Manning and like to see him lose.

and he blocks too!Doesn't Manning control the protection packages on a number of plays?

he could have said,"You dont win games on one won play. Yes, we were in a position to tie, but ultimetly we lost as a team."Peyton's wrong to do that. However, what else could Vandy say - the snap and hold was well-executed.
Brady would never say this!!!!The truth hurts.........what he said is correct....but even I will agree he shouldnt have said it.
By comparison, he could have said "Well, I had hoped that a unit of our team - and I don't want to name which one, but it begins with an O - could get me close enough to make this a gimme, but I did my best from that distance."Peyton's wrong to do that. However, what else could Vandy say - the snap and hold was well-executed.
I was thinking that too. Since he practically calls most of the plays anyways, shouldn't he shoulder some of the blame because it'd be up to him to call the blocking schemes after analyizing the defensive package?I'd combine this with two other factors:Doesn't Manning control the protection packages on a number of plays?
No, but for someone who audibles on every play, you'd think he'd address the protection problems by audibling to a slant, screen or run a little more often.and he blocks too!Doesn't Manning control the protection packages on a number of plays?![]()
Manning is an idiot for saying this, even though it's true.

If he can blame the protection, why can't he blame the fact that he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in the 1st half?
He was missing guys by wide margins the entire first half.No decent replay when you're at the game... There were a ton ofA few of you n00bs in this thread should learn from this post. This is how you conduct yourself with class. Thanks, pizzatyme - hats off the Colts on a great season. You guys will be right there next year too.Just got home from the game. There is not a fan more sick than I am right now. The Colts had a great regular season. Vanderjagt sucks. He has been a changed kicker ever since he and Manning had an exchange of words two seasons ago.
This team will not be excellent until it makes it to the Super Bowl. And that will not happen until drastic changes are made to the defensive philosophy.
I am sick. That game was pure agony to watch.
Congrats to the Steelers and their fans. You deserve the glory.
calls that altered the outcome of the game, DRASTICLY!Like it or not, it's fact...BF=on fire in the Manning threadsNo, but for someone who audibles on every play, you'd think he'd address the protection problems by audibling to a slant, screen or run a little more often.and he blocks too!Doesn't Manning control the protection packages on a number of plays?![]()
Well - Vandy sure thought he was going to make that kick before the attempt by talking smack to the Steelers' bench.By comparison, he could have said "Well, I had hoped that a unit of our team - and I don't want to name which one, but it begins with an O - could get me close enough to make this a gimme, but I did my best from that distance."Peyton's wrong to do that. However, what else could Vandy say - the snap and hold was well-executed.
Seriously.... Too bad he'll never see a Bowl to run his fat @ s s in!Words can't express how much I want to see Jerome Bettis score a TD in the Super Bowl.Seriously.The Steelers seem to be a team of destiny so far.
...:X I missed that.Well - Vandy sure thought he was going to make that kick before the attempt by talking smack to the Steelers' bench.By comparison, he could have said "Well, I had hoped that a unit of our team - and I don't want to name which one, but it begins with an O - could get me close enough to make this a gimme, but I did my best from that distance."Peyton's wrong to do that. Exactly my point. He controls the play calling so much...and he should have known and recognized that the Steelers were throwing the kitchen sink at them. They spent a large portion of the game not adjusting to the pressure. Draws, screen, slants, roll-outs, etc...where were they? Manning is right that the protection was pretty bad. But that was only ONE of the handful of issues the Colts had.No, but for someone who audibles on every play, you'd think he'd address the protection problems by audibling to a slant, screen or run a little more often.and he blocks too!Doesn't Manning control the protection packages on a number of plays?![]()
Needs to start reading TMQ on NFL.com. He's been preaching since last year that Manning has trouble deciphering a 3-4 defense that shows one look pre-audible, then shifts, then doesn't do what they show.I was thinking that too. Since he practically calls most of the plays anyways, shouldn't he shoulder some of the blame because it'd be up to him to call the blocking schemes after analyizing the defensive package?I'd combine this with two other factors:Doesn't Manning control the protection packages on a number of plays?
1. Indy line just missed their blocks (true to some extent, they whiffed a few times).
2. Pitt just simply disguised their blitz schemes beautifully - I know I had no idea where they were coming from and giving Peyton the credit that he's the best at reading defenses, this certainly seems to be true that Pitt's defensive scheme was simply great. Kudos to Pitt and Peyton should give them credit.
There is no chance that the Steelers will beat the Broncos in Denver. The Steelers rush the ball 57% of the time (1st in the NFL), and the Broncos finished the regular season with the 2nd rated rush defense in the league. The Broncos rush the ball 52% of the time(2nd in the NFL), and Pittsburgh has a spectacular rush defense. These matchups should be great, but the entire game will revolve around the pressure put on Ben. If Al Wilson can get to Ben, than he'll have trouble getting the ball to Hines Ward. If Champ can stop Hines, the Broncos will win with ease. One possible little misstep? First of all, the call was right on the field. The replay official overturned it in the most egregiously poor decision I have ever seen on a football field. The game was effectively over there and the official basically gifted the Colts a second chance to win. That is unforgivable. It's not like the called a false start/offsides incorrectly. There's a reason why people erupted - Steeler fans AND NON-STEELER FANS ALIKE. People can see what is right and worng, unlike you.... who is obviously still so bitter over the Benglas loss that the best way you can think of to spend your time is to try to disparage the Steelers and devalue their victory. And you have the nerve to tall other people to let it go.Totally different. I made a judgement call based on what I observed and simply came here (this is a game thread right? I can make comment about the game here, correct?) to make a slight mention of it. One little possible misstep against the Stillers and the place just erupts. Two totally different things. This coming from the guy who kept posting that the Colts were getting jobbed by the refs.I'm amazed at how this place just erupts after one small tiny miniscule call goes by that maybe might have been wrong. Let it go guys.I really hope there is an inquiry of the replay officials-- no way should those officias still have a job after that interception overrule... that was an absolutely horrendus call.. so bad, that I almost want to say 'fixed'.. just brutal!!![]()

Yeah, and everyone said that there was no chance for the Steelers to beat the Colts in Indy. They probably didn't show it on TV. But I watched him and he definitely did that. After I saw that I thought he would shank the kick. Worse, the guy next to me said "he's the most accurate kicker in NFL history" before the attempt - and all I can think about where the 2 big kicks he's missed before.:X I missed that.Well - Vandy sure thought he was going to make that kick before the attempt by talking smack to the Steelers' bench.By comparison, he could have said "Well, I had hoped that a unit of our team - and I don't want to name which one, but it begins with an O - could get me close enough to make this a gimme, but I did my best from that distance."Peyton's wrong to do that. please keep up the "broncos will win" talk for next week. i want the steelers hungry in the underdog role again. with that said, denver looked mediocre at best against the Pats, capitalizing on 5 big mistakes. meanwhile the steelers manhandled the colts even with the refs watching their back. i like the steelers chances next week.
as a Steeler fan- I'd MUCH rather see Denver instead of NE!!Of course you did, the refs made certain of it... That was the single most critical point in the entire game... trip evah.Well, this is the FATTEST I have ever seen Bettis so that is the correlation that I was making, not that he is a perpetual fumbler.Actually, it was Bettis' first fumble of the year and he rarely, rarely fumbles. It was shocking to see it happen and have the season nearly end because of it.You think it was a freak Bettis fumble? The guy looks like Martin Lawrence from Big Momma's house. With a belly that big, no way could he tuck the ball away properly. He couldnt have gotten 2 hands on the ball if he wanted to.big time playes dont have guys making excuses for them and blaming other team members on internet message boards like this one.
big time players win so the finger point and blame defecting is never an issue.
manning isn't big time. blame the offensive line, the pass rush, the play calling, the kicker all you want.
they won 13 straight, went 14-2, had home field throughout, were playing a team they manhandled two months ago, and they still lost.
and it woouldn't have even been as close as it was if not for the worst officiating call since the tuck rule and a freak bettis fumble.
manning is a loser. deal with it.
the refs tried as hard as they could to bail him out and he still couldn't do it.
class postCongrats to the Steelers. I won't be posting for several days because I'm going to a funeral out of town - but the better team won today, and I have great respect for the Steelers and their fans. Good luck the rest of the way.

Have fun watching us in Denver next week.

in his hometown of detroit would be ultimately fitting.in my 30 years on this earth being a diehard steeler fan, I have never experienced anything like the last 6 minutes of this game. complete jubilation to complete dispair to complete jubilation to complete despair to complete jubilation.Words can't express how much I want to see Jerome Bettis score a TD in the Super Bowl.Seriously.The Steelers seem to be a team of destiny so far.
If sure the NFL will be in damage contol mode and will 'influence' the commentary.. BS call!! good thing the Steelers were good enough to overcome it...Guess we will find out what calls were by the book and what calls were missed on Wednesday NFL Network.
I think by the book the INT was INC.
Guess we will find out what calls were by the book and what calls were missed on Wednesday NFL Network.
I think by the book the INT was INC.
I have already stated that I think there will be some announcement about an obscure ruling that makes that the right call. I thought it was a horrible call at the time but then again most people thought the "tuck" rule call was the worst in history at the time.Talk about not letting go. That's the second time you've said something about Ben shredding his knee. It's unfortunate that you won't let that accident on the field in Cincy go. Seriously. And I don't think Ben needs your prayers.Wow. You think I'm bitter over the Bengals loss? Is this what this is all about?Ok. Have fun in Denver. I'm done discussing this because you Stiller fans seriously won't let it go and that's really unfortunate. I will be watching you guys in Denver and seriously praying Ben doesn't shred his knee.
