Game Thread - NY Giants v. Chicago Bears (1 Viewer)

One of the best games Ive seen Peanut Tillman play, had Burress blanketed all night. Very strange to see a Bear corner allowed to play man all game like that. Wonder if the Boldin game had anything to do with that?

Have to fix this run D immediately. I think thats 3 straight 100 yd games against. Some shoddy tackling but way too many gaps being left wide open

:goodposting: I agree with everything you said. Tillman impressed me a lot - it was good to see

Wonder if the run D being sub-par has anything to do with Ian Scott not being in the starting lineup anymore?

It may be me, but I am not that impressed with the Bears tonight. The score seems a little deceiving. The ST TD was a backbreaker, but if these teams play again, I think you see a very different game. It looked like the 2nd team def that the Giants have out there ran out of gas somewhere in the 3rd Qtr. If they had a rotation of D-lineman and were fresh I think the score would be different. Groossman couldn't do anything for the better part of the 1st half when the Giants were able to pressure him.Just my 2 cents

38-20 on the road against who some people considered the best team in the NFC doesn't impress you?
I don't think some people with be impressed with the Bears until they literally kill somebody on the field.
Here's the thing. The Bears are a very good team and certainly the best in the NFC (they proved that last night) but they are not even close to being in a class of their own. As of right now, I don't think they're a better team than the Colts but time will tell. As good as they look some games, they look equally bad other games. This is pretty obvious but it really comes down to whether or not Grossman can play hot during the 3 game playoff run. Winning it all is about consistency and lately the Bears have not been consistent. With all of that said, I think the Bears will be playing in Miami this year.
8-1 seems pretty consistent to me. Yes, there are areas that need to be worked on, but what team is perfect? I mean Indy almost lost to Buffalo at home???? Bears were on the road versus a good team, got down early and still won easily. What more do you want? The only thing that worries me is the psychological impact of being the 'one and done' in the playoffs. This team has all the pieces to win the Superbowl, if tey win their first playoff game, I think its a cake walk to the Superbowl.....

It is NEVER a cakewalk to the superbowl no matter how good your team is. If you think it is, you're fooling yourself. The point is the Bears are not head and shoulders above the other playoff teams in the NFC let alone the NFL. I agree that every team has some problems but we've seen the Bears (mainly their offense) perform very inconsistent lately. Against Arizona, they were awful. Then they came back and played a great game against SF. Then they were awful against Miami. Then they were terrible against the Giants in the first half and great in the 2nd half. I understand that every team has issues but are there any other offenses that are this hard to predict? They have to change this trend if they're going to go anywhere this year.

Bad choice of words there, lets just say I am much much less worried if they get past that first game.We all know of Rex's inexperience even being in the league 4 years (?). But what I saw last night, a team playing on the road on a national televised game....

Down 13-3, with 2 minutes left in the first half and showing nothing, Bears drove the field and scored a TD.

Started the 3Q, with another drive for a TD to take the league.

Then with 10 minutes left in game, Bears didn't just sit on the league, they put the Giants away with another TD drive.

These are things that elite teams do. It was very encouraging to see...With 7 more games left, Rex's experience and the offense's consistency will only improve.

I keep hearing some say they better be more consistent or they won't make it far. You could say this about any team in the leauge so I don't really understand how this makes the Bears different than any of the other top teams. Yet, many on here keep saying the same thing. And the Bears keep winning. If the Colts play like they did yesterday or like they have in recent playoff games, they won't be going far either. What's the difference? All teams have things they need to improve by the playoffs. That's how it is every year. As an avid Bears fan, I couldn't be much happier with how they've played this year. Did they have a couple bad games so far? Sure, but they're still 8-1 and they've ripped a hole in most teams they've played. Have the Colts? Didn't the Bears just destroy the Bills a few weeks ago? And spare me the strength of schedule argument. It's tired. The NFL is not college. You have to be prepared for every game. Every team is more than capable of beating most other teams. See Miami

Additionally, there are not many Bears fans on here who think this is the best team to ever play the game as some Bears haters on here try to insinuate. Things get so twisted around on here sometimes. It isn't even funny. They're a solid team and one of the best in the league. Anyone who thinks otherwise is simply lying to themselves or doesn't know much about football.

Obviously, not many people are going to say they're as good or better than Indy, even though their point differential is higher. I'm not even saying that. I don't know. It's hard to say many teams are better than the Colts with what they've done the past 2 seasons. However, I like Chicago's chances against any team on any given week at this point, even the Colts.

:goodposting: and I wasn't knocking the Bears. They are certainly one of the best teams in the league this year. My only point is that their inconsistencies on offense (as of the last 4 weeks) have been more noticeable to a lay fan than other team's inconsistencies. Of course that is probably also due to the fact that their record is so good so it's much easier to notice when a top team falters. I think to win the superbowl, you need a solid defense, a qb who doesn't make mistakes, and a solid running game. The Bears definitely have 2 of the 3 components and the jury is still out on the 3rd.

I just happened to be lucky enough to be up against the Bears Def. for Hester's return as well as Vasher's. I would have won both times if not for those stupid returns!

Say what you want about the Giants injuries, but Eli Manning still looks mediocre more often than not. If I were a Giants fan, that would worry me more than anything.
