Game Thread - PHI @ GB (1 Viewer)

jackson up the middle... about 2 yards...

jackson finds another hole... gains 7...

timeout called by GB with :06 left...

going to be about a 44 yd FG attempt for crosby to win the game

Crosby FG is good...

:02 left on clock...

not impressed with either team...

both played poorly in my eyes....

maybe both of their defenses are that good... but offenses looked terrible in this game...

Philly is overrated. Again.
their offense didn't look good... but their defense looked very good...their punt returners are absolutely horrible though, and lost this game for them! didn't philly let their PR guy go right before the start for the season?you can blame that on their lose

 Crosby, Packers and Philli D were the only ones to show anything in this game
yup... i'm already shooting for chris brown as a pickup (yeah he is on the waiver wire) but i doubt i'll get him because i look well on my way to a W. so i'm going to put crosby down as my 2nd pickup (assuming no one emerges from the later games)he looks like he could kick a 70 yarder today

Don't think so. McNabb was unbelieveable but the Packers offense is that good. I don't see Dallas, Wash, or the Giantst having any chance at all against Phili. The Phili defense totally shut down the Packer offense.

Umm no they're not. Your Homerism is showing. Favre is old and at this point overrated. He was still forcing throws and was lucky that several passes weren't intercepted. The GB offense was also depleted from injuries. Now the defense is a different story. They are going to be great for a while

I can't speak for Billy, but I think it's quite obvious he meant to say the Packers DEFENSE, not Offense. Use your brain.

Clearly the Eagles special teams lost this game with an assist from their offense, but I have one significant question that no one on the broadcast seemed to bring up, and haven't seen here yet either.

First, there is no excuase for Reed, the punt returner, to attempt to catch that last ball. HOWEVER, he called for a fair catch, and waved a few times during his approach to the ball.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THAT WAS NOT FAIR CATCH INTERFERENCE???

I don't remember the guy's number, but one of the Green Bay coverage players was CLEARLY too close to the him while he approached the ball. And it's there on the replay as well ... a great view from the end zone cam gets it dead on. The dude even has to pull his elbow out of the way at the last second to avoid giving him a forearm to the head. While contact was not made, contact is not required for the player to be in violation of the rule.

Again, this does not excuse the moronic, botched attempt to field the ball. My point is that IT SHOULD'T HAVE MATTERED once the interference occurred. Not only should it have been Eagles ball, but they should have had great field position after the 15 yard penalty was enforced.

Of course, they probably would have gone 3 and out anyway and lost in OT, but that's not the point!

Somewhat related, I thought the officiating was weak today, although it favored neither team until the missed punt at the end. They missed the delay of game (my favorite non-call) twice against the Pack. And I'm not talking about the clock hitting 0 and the snap being almost simultaneous. It was 0 on the clock, then ... snap. The pass interference call that went against Donald Driver was also ridiculous. How can you throw a flag on a receiver on a play like that? Atrocious. There were a couple other instances, but I don't have a clear recollection to bring them out at the moment.

I believe you have to be prepared to catch the ball and not running around to attempt a fair catch. It would make sense otherwise people will be signaling for fair catch and running around just to try to draw the interference call.

I saw those same things. Favre was taking his sweet time all day pretending he was Manning and should have been called two more times for delay of game. Driver was mugged on more than one play and the Eagles line, admittidly I am watching them closely, were getting away with some pretty good holds. As far as the PR play, I don't know but the Packer guy was so close that there was almost contact.

At least the Eagles can take from this game two things:

1. Their Defense is REALLY good.

2. Perhaps Jeremy Bloom might be getting a call this week. If he does JR or Lewis will be looking for work.

Anyone have information on the severity and expectations of Jennings injury? Also, anyone who watched the game what was Jones's role? Thanks.

watching the game doesn't really tell you ones role...but he was targetted about 6 times.... once for a really long pass where he was pretty wide open, and favre overthrew him...martin seemed to get as many looks though

I thought the game was lost by Philly in the following areas:

1. Obviously 2 fumbled punts had the most direct affect on the game

2. At least in the 2nd half, McNabb was scrambling well to avoid the sack but his utter aversion to running the ball down field is very frustrating. It looked like he could have gained positive yards on many occasions if he had just tucked it and gone.

3. The play calling immediately after the Kearse fumble recovery late in the game was horrendous:

a. They start the drive at the Packers 38 with 4 minutes left and they run BUCKHALTER???? on first down for a 4 yard loss

b. On 2nd and 14 they run Westbrook on an inside run for 2 yards

c. On third and 22 (holding call) they throw a bomb to Kevin Curtis that carries Curtis out of bounds.

Terrible

And everybody else in the NFC East has sufferered significant injuries today:Washington - JansenDallas - Ferguson NYG - Umeniyora and Brandon JacobsI'm not trying to make light of other teams' injuries but there seems to be alot of them in one division.
