Game Thread PL1 - Kansas City V Indianapolis (1 Viewer)

Probably looking forward to this game more than any other this weekend.

The main question, and everyone knows it: Can L.J. get 35-40 productive carries, and limit Manning's time on the field? Green might get pulled early if he's ineffective, so if the Chiefs get behind it could be a long day. Even Herm admitted that the "Run Larry All Day" plan is good in theory, but he said that will go out the window if they get down by 2+ scores.

I think Addai has a great day, going for 120+ and at least one score. He'll benefit from all the attention being paid to Harrison & Wayne. While I don't see Indy shutting down Johnson, I also don't see Kansas City stopping the Colts offense AT ALL. Early in the week, I was leaning to the Chiefs plus the 7 points. After looking at the matchups a bit, I see Indy winning something like 37-24.

Making my own, homer-filled prediction.....

28-24 KC

I see LJ + Mike Bennett going a combined

45 Carries

190 Yds.

3 TDs

Trent Green throws for:

135 Yds

one TD

but a pick also that comes THIS close to getting him benched.

Manning has a good day, somewhere along the line of:

21-25

270 Yds.

2 TDs/O INTs

Chiefs DEF holds Addai & Rhodes to 75 yards and a TD....they force a fumble in the running game and on ST.

Chiefs leave Manning with somewhat of a 2-Minute drill in the end, and he gets them inside KC territory, but cannot get the needed TD.

Chiefs win and move on to SD.

I went with 3 favorites,

this is my underdog play.

I think Trent Green can use

his experience and LJ to keep

this one close. If TG can throw

less than 25 passes, and LJ can

tote the rock 35+ times, they'll have a shot.

Chiefs 31

Colts 27

As bad as the Indy run D's matchup is, I think the KC passing O's matchup is worse.

Its really going to be a race to see which team can make the other one dimensional first.

I think Manning carves up the KC rookie safties with ease, and despite 175/2 from LJ, Indy wins rather easily.

41-24.

As a Colts homer, I have to temper my expectations based on past performance. With that said, I think LJ goes for 200+ and 2 TDs. I think Green gets one TD to Gonzo. I think another drive gets stopped for a FG.

Chefs 24

As for the Colts, I think Ashcraft is nuts if he thinks Manning goes down with less than 300 yards of passing. I like Addai to get 110 and maybe 1. I like Manning to get 325 and 3(one each to our 3 studs, Harrison, Wayne and Klecko...haha) I could also see Vinatieri having 2 FGs.

Colts 34

I don't think KC knows what hit them early in the game in our loud environment. Manning leads the Colts to 2 early scores and the Chefs are forced to play ketchup  all day.

Either way, I'll be at the game. I'm headed down at Noon to soak it up and hope for a fun day with a Colts win!

Go Colts!

The Colts have to be terrified of LJ the way their D has allowed RBs to run all over them recently. I'm real curious if Dungy can scheme to contain or limit him some.

I can see it now...The Colts get an early lead, the Chiefs start throwing the ball too much, and Edwards talks in his post-game press conference about how they should have ran the ball more.

Bring us back a win and a lot of fantasy points from Manning, Pizzatyme. And have fun at the Slippery Noodle.

My co-worker's husband is from Indy and they are driving back from Mid-MO to Indy for the game. I talked to them while they were on the road yesterday and told him that LJ was going to run all over them and control the clcok, he just laughed and said "Sure you'll get your yards, but it won't take LJ long to go the length of the field, so we will have plenty of chances to score ourselves".

After I thought about it, he is probably right. LJ IS going to go off against them, but if KC doesn't control the clock, it won't matter.

Either way, I see a high scoring game similar to 2003 where the team that has the ball last has a 80% chance of scoring to win the game on the last drive.

34-31 either way, but I'll say KC pulls it out as my homer pick!

All the experts are taking the Chiefs because of LJ and the Colts rushing defense. This is how I see it playing out. Bob Sanders is back and will help the run defense. LJ will get his, but not to the tune of what everyone thinks he will do. Trent Green is a statue, and I look for a big day from the Colts DEs. Green will spend most of the day on his back trying to play catch up. I think the Colts will get out to a BIG lead taking away from the KC rushing game a little. I can see a 34-24 game, advantage Colts.

Even if the Colts go up two touchdowns, would it make sense for the Chiefs to abandon the running game and start passing on nearly every down?

Pretty nice run around the outside by Addai. I agree with what some have already said in this thread, I think he is in store for a big game.

yeah they'll have to try and rest their D some by taking some time with the run

I have nothing to add of any substance other than I remember the Colts/Chiefs playoff game from a few years ago when neither team punted the entire game.

Not that I ever pay that much attention to kickers, but has anyone else seen an opening kickoff as good as Vinateri's? He "Coffin Cornered" a kickoff, one yard into endzone right at the corner and then a perfect bounce straight out of bounds, ridiculous ....

whomever is calling the camera angle choices is off on 3rd down each time. The live view stinks on those passes

Can someone explain why Herm Edwards, who runs the ball more than almost any other coach, has one of the best run blocking lines, and has one of the best running backs in the NFL, who set an NFL record for carries, when playing against the worst rushing defense in the league, and trying to keep a high scoring offense off the field, is passing the ball short to the tight end on first down?

it workedhe's pretending he'll keep them on their toes probably

The Colts apparently incorporate "blunt check" into their offensive signalling, any chance they pick up Ricky Williams in the offseason?

Wow, nice job making up for that last drop Harrison ....

Good hunting by Derrick Johnson the last few plays.

Herm should send him more
