Game Thread W1 - Atlanta v Carolina (1 Viewer)

What in the hell is wrong with Carolina? Haven't been watching, but they're getting smoked..
D-Line is getting pushed around by a dominant offensive line.Loss of Smith is killing the offense, as the defense is not respecting Delhomme at all. With that said, they will be fine once their weapon gets healthy.

Vick throws a laser to CrumplerNice ball
Vick makes this team tick, along with their excellent offensive line. He dictates everything the defense does. He takes way too much crap from the "haters"
agreed. Granted, I'm an ATL fan, but anyone who watched the team last year knew the problem was with the defense and not Vick and the offense. He's just an easy target because he does get so much praise by the media (some of which isn't warranted I'll agree).

I do not have the luxury of watching the Seahwaks today, but the Falcons' performance against the Panthers powerful defensive-line has opened my eyes. They may be the best unit in the league. Trade for Dunn/Norwood while you can.

Falcons D has looked very impressive, we have really made Delhomme look like crap and our run D seems much improved

Also very impressed with offense considering the D we are playing, think Dunn has big year

I'm just here to gloat. THAT'S the Delhomme Atlanta's come to know and love.

I'm as big a Vick booster you'll find, but I can't say that I wasn't a little scared/annoyed when he started Favre-ing it at the end of the game. Dude, you're winning, don't make those throws!

All this talk about Falcons no chance by the media & giving the Panthers the Lombardi Trophy... not so fast. It's only the first game but the Falcons look good.

Just a quick note to the Carolina coaching staff:

You need to run more than 2 times in the last 26:25 of the game (trailing by 10, then 7 pts for most of it).

Game wasn't carried in my market, and don't have DirectTV package, so someone enlighten me as to why in the holy @#$% ballz Carolina called a whopping 2 running plays for 80% of the second half of a winnable game....at home??!! Thoughts? Opinions? Anyone have any idea what was going on to cause this?

Who is the QB targetting?

Atlanta: Vick is going to target not Crumpler, but Jenkins.

Carolina: Delhomme is probably aiming for Key.

Who's running the ball well?

Atlanta. Who else? Warrick Dunn goes for 135 yards on 26 rushes, Michael Vick has 2 scrambles for 31 yards, and Jerious Norwood breaks through the line for a 51 of his 64 total yards and a touchdown. DeShaun foster gets 65 yards on 23 carries in 3 quarters, and Carolina puts DeAngelo Williams in who gets 42 yards on only 9 carries.
See the bolded text. I feel special. Dunn went 132 on 29, Norwood had 66 yards. Sure, he didn't have the big run for 51 or the TD, but still, somebody's gotta give me some props.

I don't see how anyone can call Vick overrated anymore, the guy is under the microscope more than anyone. He had a good game....and will continue to as the Falcons take the South :)

PS Carolina stinks

Umm 140 yards in the air, 48 yards on the ground 2TDs, a QB rating around 100 and a win against one of the best defenses in the leauge. Yeah I say thats pretty damn good. But to each his own.

From AJC

With 1:02 left, Abraham hobbled from the field and into the team's locker room.

"Everything is fine; we're going to take this day by day," Abraham said. "We are not going to worry about that today. We're going to enjoy this win. We'll worry about that tomorrow."

Abraham, who missed most of the 2003 season with a groin injury, wasn't sure how it occurred.

"It was just the groin area, but we don't have any specifics," Abraham said. "We haven't taken an MRI or anything like that."

In 2003, Abraham strained his groin against Philadelphia on Oct. 26. He missed three games but aggravated the injury against Jacksonville on Nov. 23 and missed the missed rest of the season.

Vick's performance today is only unimpressive to those who didnt see the game

if you watched the game, he controlled it from opening whistle to the final gun

the offensive line did a great job of run blocking today for Atlanta, but their pass blocking still leaves ALOT to be desired

Vick took some pretty big hits out there today and I for one just hope he can stay healthy all year

kerney OR abe being out i can live with, but both would be a little scary. good thing they're playing tampa next week.
