Game Thread W10 - New England at Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

Why are Steeler's fans always so doom and gloom after a loss? It happens, nobody is perfect.

You have one of the most successful franchises in sports and you piss and moan after one loss.

Show some faith. Their recipe for success plays well in the postseason. The sky is NOT falling.

Is Chris Collinsworth the world's biggest blowhard or what? The guy just rambles on about the most inane things.

That aboy Bill. We don't want to let this game go over twice. Make sure you get that TO in so you can talk it over.

Ziggy Hood, as a replacement for Aaron Smith... has exactly 1 Solo tackle in 3 games as the starter. :X

That simply wont work.

For all the talk about the offensive line, its the play calling that really chaps my ###. Arians arrogantly stated before the game that they weren't going to change the gameplan... well, Bruce, what is your game plan? Your most consistent offensive weapon (Mendenhall) has sat on the bench over half the time, you take shots down field to Antwan Randel El over Mike Wallace and you don't even try to institute a running game when Mendenhall has shown he can be the lead dog. You are the worst offensive coordinator in the league and you have no business being out there. Big Ben is also playing the worst I have seen him since his rookie year. He missed open WR's on at least three plays... two of which resulted in sacks the other a throw away. The line hasn't been great but they also have been put in a less than stellar position. The Pats know what is coming on every play.
:wall: The Steelers coaching did a terrible job preparing them for this game. You know that Pats and BB hit the game film hard after their embarrassing loss to the Browns last week. Arians and LeBeau's and Tomlin's refusal to coach and plan to the circumstances as they unfold is a major problem for the Steelers. THe other thing is the Steelers cannot be a winner when all of America has them on top. They cannot handle that. When they are flying under the radar, they do better.

They just look defeated. Maybe the short week?
I don't think so. I just think they a) have too many important players injured, and b) are facing a coach who doesn't care if pundits chastise him for throwing 'the book' out the window. The way to beat Lebeau's zone blitz is to do exactly what NE is doing. No idea why more teams don't attempt it.The fact the Steelers aren't blitzing more is playing right into his hand.
Exactly right. Belichik set the trap. You can only beat Brady by assaulting him with all out blitz and fast. The Steelers tried to drop pass rushing LBs into coverage and Brady is easily dissecting that and completing passes.

Outcoached and outplayed in all three facets of the game. Not much else to say.

The team is really banged up -- hope they can make a game of it next week against the Raiders.

I wouldnt have predicted this as I do have a high opinion of the steelers, but very happy as a pats fans, primarily because of seeing coaching actually making its way into execution. the progression of all the young defenders is more than satisfactory at this point....still too many mistakes but this team can hang with elites in the league and thats huge. all i really want for the rest of the season is to beat the jets in the rematch. everything else would be gravy.

I expected the Steelers offense to perform much better but I knew the Patriots would have a field day against the Steelers defense and said so in the Official Steelers thread. The Steelers run defense is among the best but unless they can generate a pass rush their secondary is well below average and they can be beat. I knew that Brady was going to get rid of the ball quickly and that he would have success doing so. You would have thought that DC **** LeBeau would have known that too but he was dropping LBs in coverage and keeping two safeties deep all game long. Troy Polamalu, arguably the Steelers best defensive player was for the most part a non factor as Brady continually threw underneath.

Congrats to the Patriots -- they were clearly the better team both on the field and on the sideline.

Brady said. "It's an exciting game for us in this locker room. We haven't been this happy in a long time."

I had a feeling...a bad feeling about this game.

Brady is the Steelers kryptonite. Shotgun, underneath passing negates the teeth of the Steeler defense (runstop/pass rush). Pinpoint accuracy, WR's catching everything...the execution on the NE side of the ball was flawless when it mattered. Defensively, I was impressed too, considering what Cleveland did last week.

The good news is, not many (any) teams have a QB that can pull this off. I give full credit to New England for their preparation and execution. Unfortunately, sometimes you're the steamroller, sometimes you're steamrollee...

PS - I'd like to thank Jeff Reed for his years of service. You are now free to become a full-time party boy. Buh-bye.

Belichik has been doing this against the Steelers for years. You would think that the Steelers coaching staff would eventually catch on. My guess is they haven't realized that Drew Bledsoe isn't at QB anymore.
