Game Thread W11 - Chicago v NY Jets (1 Viewer)

I see. So you think the Bears had the game in hand the whole time and were just sandbagging? You think that Grossman having 5 yards passing at the half, and being tied 0-0 was all part of their brilliant plan? The Jets had them stymied in the first half. The Thomas Jones fumble reversal was the turning point of the whole game. They did make a few plays down the stretch when they needed to, but overall, they were extremely vulnerable all game. If you think otherwise you must not have watched the game, you're a blind homer, or both. To compare everyone who points out that the Bears aren't perfect to Denny Green is just stupid. Funny that the teams they struggled most to put away this year were the Jets, Cardinals, and Vikings. They are a good looking team right now. But they aren't the 85 Bears. They can be beaten.
I missed the part where flappy said they ARE the 85 bears, and they CANT be beaten. I do remember the part where he said it was a good game, and a defensive battle. Most of your analysis is correct - the Bears didn't look that good on offense, and the momentum did seem to shift after the fumble reversal.

What excites myself about the Bears this season is they are winning football games. What other NFL team can say that? It seems that moreso this year, teams look great one week, then terrible the next (see Dallas, Philly, NYG, Jacksonville, St. Louis, Seattle, Carolina, Cinci, Pittsburg, Minnesota, Atlanta etc) There aren't many consistent teams out there. The Bears are 9-1. The only team that can say the same is the Colts. The Ravens and Chargers are the only 2 loss teams.

To say that Flappy is a blind homer based on the comments he made in this thread is BS.
Because it was pointed out that the Bears didn't play their best game on Sunday and they were certainly beatable, he comments that "that's what every team the Bears have beaten this year have said" and "it's Deny Greenitis". Whatever. That's homerism talking. Every team is NOT doing that. Do you think the Bills or the Seahawks were saying that after getting pounded? What about Green Bay? I have no problem with Bears fans starting their own public masturbation thread where they can stroke each other off about how awesome their team is. But this is a game discussion thread. I brought up the point that the Bears certainly didn't look their best on Sunday, and the Jets blew a great opportunity. To call anyone who points out when the Bears are playing subpar "Denny Green" is stupid.
You have good points in your original post, no question. But when I was reading your original post I too did the old "here we go again" thought in my mind. That's the problem. Every week we are told how lucky the Bears were, that they are a mediocre team, that if team X played them the next three weeks they would win them all; yada yada yada. Us Bear fans are tired of that. So Flappy was posting out of frustration. You said it was Pennington's fault the Bears won. No credit to the Bears D at all. If Pennington was better the Jets would have manhandled the Bears I'm sure.
:goodposting: I agree with your assessment of flapgreen. Someone else said in this thread that "To call his comments homerism is BS". Frustration = homer.

I don't think the Bears are lucky, and I never once said they didn't deserve to win on Sunday. They're far from lucky. I think they are opportunistic, and that is one of the best qualities to have in the NFL. And I did give the Bears D credit. But I also said Chicago didn't play well offensively. Here's my original post:

I hate to say it, but I seriously believe Pennington cost us that game nearly single handedly. I don't know about other Jets fans, but I am absolutely sick to death of seeing the stupid little 4 yard dumpoff. I could tolerate it if they could score after moving it down the field. But Pennington looks scared EVERY TIME he drops back. They ran the ball very well against a great Chicago D, IMO. When you are doing that, you have to mix it up and take a few shots down the field.

If you see a replay of the Urlacher INT, Pennington is staring down his receiver from the moment the ball is snapped. No exaggeration- he never once looked away. I could intercept a ball if a QB was giving it away that bad. Then to top it off he throws the worst pass of the day. And the rainbow 6 yard INT he threw while being sacked was pathetic. The Jets' D did exceptionally well for the bigger part of 3 quarters yesterday. Until we have someone better than Pennington there, I just don't see us capitalizing on these opportunities on a regular basis. Outside of Thomas Jones, Chicago did not play that well offensively. They were ripe for the picking, and the Jets folded.
Maybe some of the Bears fans here need to grow a little thicker skin is all. You have an excellent team. Let's just hope it isn't another 13-3 season with a quick exit in the first round of the playoffs.
