Game Thread W11 - New England V Buffalo (2 Viewers)

73 points is the NFL record for most in a game. NE has 56 now with nearly 14 minutes on the clock. If they want to go for it, they have a tremendous shot. Personally I'd try for it, it would be just as impressive as a 19-0 season in my opinion.
I think BB has the Jets game earmarked for that record. Would love to see that.
   :D :) The line will be 24 that week.
And it won't be enough. I think you might see the first 30 point line in the modern NFL gambling era.

think about Matt Cassell for a second. In college, he played behind two heisman trophy winners on a team that won two national championships. Now he's earning a paycheck playing behind a future MVP on a team bound for the Superbowl...

Do you people making "jokes" about running up the score actually think you are funny?
Going for it on 4th down inside the 20 when the game is safely in hand, however, is running up the score.Situation makes the difference.
so adding 3 points isn't but 7 is. Either way their adding points.
No point continuing a dialogue if you can't see the basic difference. How did Welker do for you?
:shock:need 22 yds or a TD

What's sad is that no matter what the Patriots do, the whining babies here will find a way to cry about it. If they go for it, they're classless. If they kick a field goal, they're running up the score. If they kneel, they're rubbing it in.If you can't handle watching football without getting your feelings hurt, then you need to find a new sport.
I think more ppl are having issues with them being up by 4-5 TD's and going on it on 4th and 1 in chip shot FG range...I don't really care, but seriously how is this NOT running up the score? If you don't agree then you are blind, a fan, or a FF owner.
I'm amazed so many guys feel the way you do. Think this through for a minute...Put yourself in the Bills position. Pretend you are playing linebacker for them tonight. Do you honestly want to even whiff the Pats "letting up"? That would be humiliating. I think Belichick is showing respect for the Buffalo players by playing it honest for as long as he has.Really, if the Pats were interested in running it up and humiliating the opponent, they would kneel down for every play in the second half- which is what many of you want. This knee-jerk response about running it up laughable. It's the NFL, not HS. And many of you are arguing for a remedy that would probably only inflame Jauron and the Bills.

Two? Last time I checked, USC only had one BCS trophy.

What if the Patriots get McFadden in the draft with that SF pick?
That would be fun.
Yeah, but the Pats don't go offense with the first rounders usually. Maybe DL like Glenn Dorsey or Chris Long....
Thats scarier.
Considering the players already on the Patriots' d-line, I think that McFadden would have more impact on the offense than Dorsey/Long would on the defense. But either of them would be great picks as well as a fresh Patriots d-line for 60 minutes would be terrifying to watch.

Here is the rushing stat line for a Pats team that "can't run the ball."

Code:
NET YARDS RUSHING 112Total Rushing Plays 25Average Gain per Rushing Play 4.5Tackled for a Loss (Number-Yards) 1-2

Yes, exactly. Do you really need the extra 4 points in that situation?
I'd go for it but would run the ball not throw. I think the FG is cheap in a blowout situation , but so is passing.

Can we just clarify all this for a second?Punching it in on 3rd and goal when the game is safely in hand is not running up the score.

Taking an INT back for a TD when the game is safely in hand is not running up the score.

Playing your starters through the 4th when the game is safely in hand is not running the score.

Trying to kick a 50+ FG when the game is safely in hand is not running up the score.

Going for it on 4th down inside the 20 when the game is safely in hand, however, is running up the score.

Situation makes the difference.
Says who? I think most would consider that running up the score.
I might agree with that. But it's less clear cut than, say, going for it on 4th down in that situation.

Out of all of this throwing the ball the 2nd time they went for it on 4th down was the worst.
No it wasn't. The only other options were to kneel or kick a FG. Both of those would have been called unsportsmanlike. Will you people quit crying and just enjoy this for what it is?

I'm a Pats fan.

Going for it on 4th and 1 up by 30+ points and throwing the ball to Moss?

That's running it up.

Period.

That said? It's fun as hell to watch.

Sure they do, check where they asked for updates. And who asked you 5 digiter?
 @ '5 digiter'. Are you really THAT desperate for an insult?
Nah, just thought it was funny.
I thought you said you were going to bed?
I did, but I just couldn't turn this off.
A few guys in my main league always claim they didn't see the whole game, went to bed at halftime, etc. I know its bull. Its too hard to just walk away because anything can happen in the last 5 minutes...pretty funny

Do you think that if there was a rule in the NFL that a team could call "Mercy" and that would end the game, do you think there is a Coach that actually would????

stop whining about running up the score...

As much as I love McFadden (I think he is the best player in the draft). One thing the NFL has proven (BB especially) is that RBs are interchangeable. Getting stud talent at other positions would help NE more.

There is a big difference between going for it on 4th and kneeling down, Pats supporters in here just want to kid themselves into thinking they are the same thing.

If more Patriot fans were as honest as yourself, the world wouldn't hate New England fans nearly as much. I completely and totally agree with you that they're running it up (that's their right) but it's rather fun to watch.

Plus I need me some Lee Evans. But I'm thinking the Bills will almost just run the clock to get out of there.

yeah, but he's no Steve Young.
