Game Thread W12 - Buffalo V Jacksonville (1 Viewer)

Losman goes down, another three and out...Losman took a hard shot to the back of the legs. It will be itneresting to see if he is going to be OK, same hit that knocked him out against the Pats

TD Roscoe Parrish, in a play that helps absolutely noone...it was on a reverse.

However, Evans had one of the key blocks on the end-around.

I can't believe that don't even get Evans touches with sweeps and reverses....its what they have resorted to with S. Smith in Carolina...

It is amazing how little Matt Jones tries. All the talent in the world and he plays seemingly heartless.
yep. This is why I'm pissed with him. He has the talent to be among the elite, but he just doesn't give a damn. I knew he had a lackadaisical attitude in college, so maybe I should have known better, but I assumed talent + NFL coaching would get him to a high level. Now, I don't want to drop the guy, but he's almost a waste of space.

gettin stuffed like a turkey 3 days late. I picked a helluva week to bench Kevin Jones for MJD.
I traded Cedric Benson, who has come on the last two games and gets Denver at home, at the trade deadline and inserted MJD into the lineup for Cedric. Not only that but I have a sig bet that MJD would have a better year than Bush....Looks like I will lose that one
There's still a half left fellas and the Jags are winning, he can still break one.
Except MJD seems to be playing a little game we call, "how to get tackled over and over in the backfield."Anyone watching this game? Can someone comment on how MJD can't get the ball to the LOS? Or how the Jags have made Lee Evans a non-entity?

Where are all of the people who were thrilled that Losman was back at QB, thinking it would be great for Evans?

is Evans hurt or is Losman just his usual POS self?
Losman is completing passes to guys I have never heard of. The third string TE just got into the action. Losman is not throwing down the field, the Bills are emphasizing the run, and when the Bills pass they are dump offs to the RB's. There hasn't been a shot down field. CBS hasn't made a point of illustrating the Jax D and how they are keeping Evans in check. For MJD, the Bills have been playing 8 in the box all day and Garrard has been efficient in exploiting this hole in the Bills D. THe Bills seem willing to give up the 8-10 yard pass in exchange for playing the run when MJD is in the game.Edit: And Losman gets picked on a ball intended for Josh Reed. I have no idea why Jauron can't get Evans involved a little bit.

Soooooooo glad I started both Evans and MJD this week... along with Cotchery. Looks like loss #2 for the season. :football:

thanks for the comments. is evans even getting targets?
Losman missed him on the last drive. First target I've seen, but I've not been watching the stats that close....

I haven't watched a lot of Bills this year. Is Angelo Crowell usually this amazingly terrible?
He was totally out of position on the TD run by Fred Taylor. He isn't the fastest guy, but he does a good job of playing to stop the run. Just today, he was stopping everything 5 yards up the field. BTW Evans had another target.

Hopefully that Josh Reed play makes it up on Sportscenter...on 4th down Losman leaves him up in the air and Reed totally T-Rex arms.

MJD punches one in to make the game a blow out.

:goodposting: :goodposting: With that one play MJD will likely finish with two more points than Bush...

It seemed like I noticed him 3 or 4 times today over-pursuing and generally out of place.

I know how it feels to be in a small market and not sell tickets. Luckily I have season tickets but who knows for how much longerr
I wish I could go. Had to work. I had season tix but when I got laid off at my "professional" job (I was in radio and got replaced by a computer) I had to get two jobs to make up the income so now I work weekends. Try to make 3 or 4 games a year. There are a lot of us here who used to go to all the games then had to pick up xtra jobs or jobs that required weekends. They never talk about that when they talk about ticket sales not being as strong as they used to but there have been a lot of layoffs and cutbacks since the late 90s. On the fantasy side benched A. Thomas, played L Evans. Go figure.

it had something to do with the fact that every time he got the ball (except for the 15 yard TD and one other run), there was a jail break of defenders in the backfield. MJD didn't suddenly forget how to run.it's very simple. he splits carries. it happened to be freddy running when there was crease. it happened to be MJD running when there wasn't one. it was fluky how it worked out, but that's how it worked out.

It also looked like every MJD play was a slow-developing sweep to the outside and Buffalo beat them to the spot. They called quick-hitters up the middle for Fred with success.

Some thoughts on the game and the Jags' season:

The Offense: First and foremost- David Garrard has more than exceeded expectations. He's calm and confident in the pocket and the results show that. He is very poised when the rush is on. He looks completely different from the guy we saw at the end of last year. And in regards to not throwing an interception yet, this is not a product of simply taking the easy throws and avoiding situations where that ball can be picked. He's throwing the ball into some tight spots. I never imagined this level of play from him.

Reggie Williams was wide-open on quite a few occasions. He is finally starting to show consistent promise. I'd like to see the ball in his hands more often. I was really impressed to see him run away from the two Bills defenders today on his way to the end zone.

On the other hand, and in line with water being wet, Matt Jones is still a #####. He offers nothing. Nada.

It was good to see Marcedes Lewis get involved. I would really like to see him get more targets.

Every time Maurice was in the game, it seemed that the Bills D followed his every step.

Freddy T is bathing in the fountain of youth. He looks really spry out there.

The Defense: The old guys in the backfield played well today. I expected Lee Evans to have a field day with Mathis being out, but they held their own. Brian Williams has quietly shined this year.

The LB's need time to gel. Durant played ok, but needs to improve his tackling. I expect that he will.

The line still lacks a consistent rush. Although they look a great deal better than they did a few short weeks ago. They really need to be on their game next week. So far, I haven't noticed a big difference without Marcus Stroud in the line-up. The heavy rotation they normally use helps with this problem.

If you are looking for a TE sleeper, consider Marcedes Lewis.

George Wrister went out with a knee injury and Greg Estandia left the game injured again. Estandia can not stay healthy.

They had Dennis Norman, the backup center, playing TE in the second half.

If Wrighster and Estandia are out, they will have to bring in Smolko from the practice squad.
