Game Thread W12 - Houston V Cleveland (1 Viewer)

That is why the people in Houston dont like Dayne. His boxscores lie.
:goodposting: because he couldn't get a first down with 2 defenders in his face and 10 yards to go?
No Because those 2 defenders were engaged and he ran up the back of his blockers and could get the first down. Screen was set up nicely. Thats why.
i think you're gonna want to rewind that play and watch it again. just because the defenders are engaged doesn't mean Dayne had anywhere to go. he's not a scatback or a receiver. he's a big running back. even if he manages to shake and get loose he doesn't get the first down.

Can someone who is watching this game comment on why JLewis wasn't in for the last few series? Did he get hurt? I noticed Jason Wright getting touches in the boxscore...

Could you explain. I can't see the game and it looks like he is doing very well.
Here is how I see it. Now granted Houston hasn't really had any great rbs (DD was very good) but if you watch the entire game Dayne really does nothing to change the game or impact it for that matter. Granted he may get yards for the total game but it more a product of us getting 1st down through the air. Now we know who the poor defensive teams are and the Browns are one of them. So even a mediocore back like dayne can feast. Now what I mean by his boxscores lie is that they dont show all the 3rd/4th and 1's and short yardage he doesn't convert. On a play where Dayne gets 2-4 yards you know that a back with more pop or vision would really be able to take advantage of. Now dont get me wrong I can appreciate the fact that you can count on Dayne to be there game in and game out. But any Houston fan will tell you that it is just flat out torture to watch Dayne run game in and game out too.HTH

All joking and kidding aside Dayne does have his days to Feast. (ok that was a joke) And i agree that he's have a very nice day but i do know that Dayne also hamstrings the playbook because there are some plays and run plays that he just can do. Example that toss sweep should never have been called, even though I know you have to keep the defense honest.

I really wish Chris Taylor hadn't been injured in training camp. He'd never have a better opportunity to contribute than now...

True.

Good Cleveland play calling. Wide open passing in the 2nd quarter has spread us out. Now pounding the crap out of us with Jamal in the 3rd to tire us out.

I think alot of people underrate the loss of J. Mathis. Aside from Shaub/AJ, I think he is our most valueable player. IMO

TV Replay hasn't shown anything yet that would make me 100% turn that fumble ruling over. Texans may lose this challenge. Dang it.

Edit: after the ruling the angle they showed is a clear fumble. I wonder if the Texans still lead the league in turnovers.

Well the announcers have already awarded this game to the Browns and it's the start of the 4th quarter with the Texans down by 7 pts.

Lee Bodden is a CB that is starting to come into his own and is really playing well. He can be had on a double move though because he's really aggressive.

why does Winslow keep showing the sidelines his bicep after a catch?? a bigger ego may not exist in the NFL
You probably don't watch many Browns games. I used to think this was absolutely true. This year, however, he seems like a different guy. There aren't many players in the NFL who don't do something after they make a play. I can live with him flexing his biceps if it means he's going to study film, work on his blocking and keep his mouth pretty much in check. He has done those things, so I have no problem with him making a gesture after making a play since it is so common now.
