Game Thread W14 - Kansas City V Denver (1 Viewer)

This is getting insane. KC's defense is not anywhere NEAR as bad as we're making them look today. They're 5th in the league according to DVOA, and we're absolutely abusing them.

S. Young is now the primary ball carrier in Denver w/ Henry doing the goalline work. Young has 14 carries to Henry's 5. Young looks like a better back anyway. So long play-offs...

Me too... I needed a big game from Henry... going against Brady this week (just threw his 3rd TD pass...)so long playoffs...

Cutler gains 21 on a broken play - he fell down, dropped ball, got up and took off running.

I have Henry and Young. If I advance in the playoffs it'll be because of Witten - - and then I have to figure out which one to play next week. ARGGGH!

Awesome pass by Cutler for TD to Marshall.

Gus needs to calm down though - this is KC - not sure it means all is well.

This Denver offense is playing at an absurd level right now. And, as young as they are, they're only going to keep getting better.

That is what happens when the team gives up on the coaching staff. Maybe this will be the debacle that gets Carl Peterson fired.

Also, just like every week, I'm reminded that this Dumervil kid is pretty darn good. It's unfathomable how he fell to the 4th round. It's not like GMs didn't know what he could do- he had the second most sacks and the most forced fumbles in NCAA HISTORY the year before he came out. Amazing that so many people were so willing to overlook that, and over what? Two to four inches, that's what. Absurd.

Maybe we will get lucky and they will rest their stud(Young) with the blowout and Henry will get some touches.

This game is nice, but where was this effort last week? Seriously, it figures that they sweep the Chiefs in a year where the Broncos are an average team at best.

Could someone make mention if Kolby Smith plays in the 2nd half?I am a commish in a league that allows subs if a player is injured and doesn't play in the 2nd half...might decide a game today.TIA
He came in (according to the announcers) that last KC drive that ended up in a punt at the end of the 2nd quarter, but we will let you know about the 2nd half.
Kolby is playing in the 3rd quarter

Thanks guys

I'm on bye until next season and wasn't paying attention - what was Hall's status for today's game?

Hall vs the Bears certainly didn't look as good as Young today.

I think marshall is fine. Maybe a bruised rib.
I agree--maybe just wind knocked out of him....
Sorry to quote myself, but he seemed pretty animated shaking hands with people after the game and didn't seem to have any movement problems with his right arm for what it is worth.
thanks. thats great to hear. Just saw about Marshall in the injury thread. Glad it isnt anything to worry about. I need him next week

So what do you guys think of Young? Getting the lions share the rest of the way? Looking better than Henry? I see the gamelog, but stats don't tell the whole story.

Anyone who watched the game care to comment on the RB backfield. I managed to win my playoff game despite Henry's performance, so I need to know what is going on there. Was Young the featured back? Was there an injury to Henry?

Young was clearly the guy getting the ball when the game was competitive. Henry came in on the goal line. I view Henry the same as Davenport for this point out (will steal short TDs and a few carries). Young is the guy you want, IMHO.

I'm reserving judgment until I hear what Shanahan says during the week.

Oh great, now we get a situation where we can't start either of them. Complete role reversal, where Young gets the yards, and Henry gets the GL carries. Ain't that just friggin' great. What happened to Henry is starting? How can you bring him in for that much cash, defend him so vociferously on the pot charges, and give him 10 freakin' carries?

Young is doing much better right now. Henry only got 24 yards on 10 carries today, while Young got 156 on 17 carries. In other words, Young gained 132 yards with his additional 7 carries. It really isn't that hard to understand.

Why? I would like to hearing were you are going with this one.
Why? Because Shanahan's the one deciding who gets what carries, so he knows better than I the why and wherefore of it. I'm curious if Henry's injury is lingering, or if Shanahan is simply promoting Young. At the moment, it's certainly clear that he's consciously giving Young the bulk of the work, although he didn't trust Young in the red zone.

I didn't see the game, so I can't say whether or not Henry wouldn't have done the same had the circumstances been flipped. RBs need to get in a rhythm, and 10 carries isn't enough.Either way, it changes nothing from a fantasy perspective either way. Both seem unstartable in the playoffs to me, cause you don't know which one is going to be the focus, and on what part of the field.

Rhythm is overrated. Young was averaging around 10 ypc on his first 10 carries, well before he ever "found a rhythm". In fact, he did far worse on his carries in the second half than in the first. Young was just better today.Shanahan said that Henry's still not 100% healthy, so they decided to use Young more as a result. That's not very welcome news, certainly. I think it'll be very important this week to pay attention to Henry's injury situation, especially with the short week. Although maybe Shanahan was only limiting him BECAUSE of the short week- when Anderson was nursing an injury two years back and Denver was facing the Jets on Sunday and the Cowboys on Thursday, Shanahan limited him in one of the games out of concern for the injury. It's possible that this is just the same thing. I don't think it is, I'm just bringing up the possibility.

Why waste time for Henry to get in rhythm when Young is gashing the defense for around 9 yards a clip? And Denver won in a huge rout, so what they did worked very well. As for the fantasy perspective, I do not feel the least bit sorry for anyone who drafts a Denver RB. Shanahan has been goofy for years with his RBs, and everyone knows that, so I say, buyer beware.
