How was that not a safety? When he went out of bounds, the ball was in the endzone (behind the pylon). Do the same rules for scoring on your opponents' endzone not apply to your own endzone?

watch the replay. it was clean. and I'm a Palmer/Johnson owner and also a big fan of the Bengals.

Forward progress on the play. Same as when you're attemping the endzone on offense.

I believe the official gave Vines forward progress to the 1 yard line.

Forward progress on the play. Same as when you're attemping the endzone on offense.

But they didn't mark the ball at the spot of forward progress. He made it out to ~3 yd line, but the spotted the ball on the 1/2 yd line.
