The corollary to the "it's idiotic to go for two when you don't need to" is "it's idiotic to NOT go for two when you should" go for two. There is not an exact point at which coaches should always go for two when a score puts them up by 12, but generally it's a fourth quarter thing. Perhaps very early in the fourth quarter, some coaches may elect to take the single point. However, I would guess some coaches will go for two when up 12 even late in the third quarter.I could understand if you were not sure why going for two midway through the fourth quarter is the right decision before this game was completed. But with the benefit of hindsight, how can you possibly argue that NOT going for two is the right call? Did you miss the part where the Raiders lost by one point?'MSULions said:Because it's idiotic to go for two when you don't need to. There was zero reason for Oakland to do it at that point, and it would have been an awful decision whether he made it or not regardless of the outcome. YOU NEVER CHASE POINTS. It's mind-boggling that some coaches and far too many fans can't figure this out.
