Game Thread W15 - Philadelphia V NY Giants (1 Viewer)

Miracle at the New Meadowlands.Wow. Just an unbelievable comeback. This might be the greatest win in Eagles history. WOW.
This was an amazing win and things look great for them, but you might be right. This might be the greatest win in Eagles history, and that's kind of sad. Shows how little the team has accomplished in its history. Maybe Vick can finally get them a SB win. They should be NFC favorites now and they match up well with any AFC team.
that's funny.
It's not meant as an attack. But if the greatest win in franchise history is a week 15 victory, that's really the only conclusion you can draw. They just don't have the pedigree of more storied franchises. Great team in 2010, though. Could win a title.

Vick might be able to, but our defense can't. Can't give up 24+ every week and win a SB.
They held when they had to, and it was a road game. The "awesome" Giants running game was held in check. If you can stop the run in the playoffs, you can win games.

Look, when I said greatest win in Eagles history, I didn't say it was the most significant. It was just the greatest win because they were down 31-10 with 8 minutes left, they made a stunning comeback and won the game on the final play, a play they never should have had the chance to execute. It was a division game, on the road, for first place ... against a bitter rival.

No, it wasn't the Falcons or Cowboys in the NFC Championship Game. But it was pretty spectacular.

Jackson's first response when asked about running along the goal line -"I try to always do something out of the ordinary. Probably would have dove in from the 12 yard line if I could. Naw but uh, I don't know man, I mean, I knew it was like 12, 13, 14 seconds left in the game and I didn't know if ya know I made it, ya know with time still on the clock so I just wanted to run it along the goal line and um, I knew nobody was gonna catch me and like I said I like to do some things for excitement and that's what the fans and all the crowd, they pay for that, so uh I just wanted to bring that out in them."While there may have been some element of running the clock out in his mind, it doesn't seem like it was his primary motivation.
Can it be possible he was having some fun while running out the clock?
I think he's turning into one of those guys who is a very talented jerk where people don't respect his antics. He backs it up, though. But as a person who doesn't really care about the Eagles one way or the other, he's pretty easy to root against. He's like the anti-Barry Sanders.

By his own words he was showboating. You need someone to hit you over the head with a brick for you to know it was a brick?

And by his own words wanted to make sure he ran out the clock. Like I said, he just had fun doing it.

So you're saying you need a brick...It's clear that running out the clock was not his primary motivation.

It'll be interesting to see what all the people making excuses for him now say when his antics cost a game (or an injury like when W estbrook got hurt).

So you're going to dismiss that he also said the clock was a factor? Gotta love people getting worked up over Desean. By the looks of things, you should get used to it. He isn't going to change.

I almost felt sorry for the Giants. Almost.

Someone needs to get canned over that. The punter is the easy call, unless he was specifically told to kick it to Jackson.

I mean, how hard is it to kick a ball out of bounds? I could do that.

I'm not dismissing it at all. How is calling one thing his primary motivation dismissing another thing? It means that one thing was more primary than the other and he made it clear in his own words which one was primary. Like I said, when his showboating costs a game or injury we'll see how much fun fans are having.

Yeah, I hope it doesn't cost the Eagles a game. He ain't gonna change though. But if he showboats after all of his game winning TDs, I hope he showboats 5 more times this year.Even Andy Reid said last week, "yeah it bothers me, but that 91 yard TD was a thing of beauty".

You can read Coughlin's lips screaming "WHAT DID I TELL YOU TO DO?" to the kid right after DeSean ran by.

awesome awesome awesome win

Lots of injuries in thie game. If we lose Allen for the season, its a bad thing.

I liked Chaney's energy ... like it a lot ... but he is clearly playing like a rookie.

This game is over.....way to go andy
:sehorn:
You missed me calling him a fat slob. I'll save you the trouble of qouting me. Just becuase they mounted a miracle comeback, it doesn't excuse Andy for tucking away the red flag. That cost them the game until Vick put the flag on his back. They won in spite of Andy today, and that happens too often for your head coach.

I talked to my buddy in the locker room on the phone about an hour ago and he was going nuts. The team thinks its one of the greatest wins ever. Don't know about that, but obviously he was pretty pumped. You got to be happy for them after an awesome display of heart.

This is the type of win that could propel them to great things in the playoffs.

No tie to either team outside of fantasy, but I think this was the best game I've seen so far this year. Not sure why some feel the need to piss on the Eagles franchise after a huge win.

They don't know how to distinguish between an "important" win and a "great" win.An "important" win is the '60 NFL Championship or the '04 NFCC win. A "great" win is one like today.

I think everyone here can recognize a great win when they see it. "Greatest win in Eagles history?" If that's the case it says more about the Eagles. Maybe some fans got hyperbolic in the moment. But there isn't a football fan who wouldn't say it was a great win-- and, as someone said earlier, the kind that can propel a team to do great things in the playoffs. The Giants got a lot of momentum playing the Patriots in week 17 a few years back. And they LOST that game. Imagine what this could do.

Again, you seem to be muddling the term "great" with "important/significant". Apparently, no team IN THE HISTORY of the NFL has ever won a game on a punt return as the last play of the game. And no Eagles team has ever come back from that great a deficit in the 4th quarter. Saying that it's the greatest win in team history isn't that far off. Was it their most significant/important, no.
