Game Thread W17 - Cincinnati V Kansas City (1 Viewer)

I would love LJ's season if I didn't play against him 3 straight times and it would help KC get in the playoffs.

And MIA gets a safety to go up by 5 against NE!
It's a bit of an overstatement to say that MIA is playing 'well' though. It's first stringers vs. 2nd/3rd/4ths today. The Pats mailed this one in. Which surprises me somewhat, I figured they'd try to make a run for the #3 seed. I guess the need to rest guys overtook that.

Let's not get out of control here - it's not like Cincy is really trying to win this game.  If they were, Palmer would still be out there.  The instant he was yanked, their offense went in the tank.  They had nearly as many yards with Palmer in the game than they have had in much more time since he was pulled.

Cincy's weaknesses have been reinforced during this game, but it's nothing new and we're not seeing the best that Cincy's offense has to offer.  It's been obvious all season long that Cincy's D plays better with a lead and I believe that they would be in that position if Palmer had stayed in the game.
What's out of control? KC could run the ball vs Cincy even if they put 13 defenders on the field. KC is set up perfectly to beat Cincy. Starters or not.
The game would be in Cincy, which would have a huge impact on the game - Cincy has had to use 3 time outs so far in the game because the crowd hurt their ability to call audibles at the line.Plus the Bengals will have some great game tape on the Chiefs now - they'll know what they need to improve on.

And I can't say it enough - this game would be remarkably different if Palmer had stayed in the game. It's not like they would pull him in a playoff game.
Keep telling yourself that. KC drills Cincy no matter where they play. Have you seen LJ struggle on the road or has he torn through those games as well - Giants, Cowboys, etc. LJ just cannot be stopped especially when running behind that offenseve line. Bengals lost to the bills last week, almost lost to the browns two games before that. Cincy is in a little bit of trouble and they have to know that with their D playing so poorly. Oh, by the way, both the bills and browns were at Cincy with palmer playing the entire games so your arguement about playing at home with palmer is rendered useless.

Doesn't have to be pretty, just a victory

But my point is that when the Bengals offense is clicking, LJ alone will not be able to keep up. If the Bengals got up early on KC, they would abandon the run just like many other teams have against Cincy this year. That plays to the strength of Cincy's D because then their DBs start taking chances and making big plays. It's happened all year long, why do you think it would suddenly stop in the playoffs?

As for the impact of home field advantage, I'm not saying that Cincy is unbeatable at home - my point is that it would be easier for Cincy to play KC at home than in Arrowhead.

KC won't abandon the run. It IS their offense. And I don't think the Bengals can stop a runner in the quality of LJ with his offensive line. I think the game could go something like this. Palmer to CJ 56 yd TD. LJ 67 yd TD run. Palmer to TJ 37 yd TD. LJ 41 yd TD run. It's too bad we won't see this matchup in the playoffs because it would be very very entertaining.

FYI - looks like all the Bengals offensive starters are out now...Palmer = KitnaRudi = PerryCJ = Chris HenryTJ = Kevin Walter

LJ is averaging 7.7 ypc today. That will put him over 5 ypc on the season :hifive:

Cincy needs to give the ball back to Larry Johnson
Better? :P LJ fumbles on the CIN 2 yard line
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....................................
Looks like KC is getting the ball back - Kitna threw a bomb that was intercepted.
Cincy is challenging the playWarfield made a great over the shoulder grab, but he bobble the ball and only got 1 foot in after he got possession.

This one should be overturned

Overturned!Bengals' ball, 3rd and 4 on the KC 20

Bengals fake the punt and make the 1st down, but a flag is down and it's coming back. Man, the Bengals can't do anything right this gameAnd no Chiefs fans, it's not because KC is infinitely better than the Bengals

Is it just me...up 30-3 with only 4 or 5 minutes left in the game, and the starting QB is still in and throwing...Bad form?

You think? I'm not going to complain though - I'm always one to say that if you don't want their starting QB to throw a TD on you when you're down 30-3 with 3 minutes left, then stop him. But still, I'm sure the Bengals will remember this the next time they meet.

I don't know. Is there some unwritten rule that says if one team plays its scrubs, the other team can do whatever they want?Same sort of thing with the Flutie drop kick. It was fun to watch and all, but what about the integrity of the game? There is a seed on the line. Draft position. The outcome of the game is still in doubt...seems a little flimsy to me. No big deal I guess, but it makes me wonder.

PIT game is a final: PIT 35 - DET 21.Too bad because KC is a good team and could have done some damage in the playoffs. Same goes for SD.

And NE just got a TE with no time on the clock making the score 28-26...2 point conversion coming up:pleasemissit:

Phew!

Cincy finishes with the 3 seed

Should you really be happy to be playing the Steelers at home rather than the Jags at home? Sure, you'll have a nicer 2nd round match going against the Broncos rather than the Colts, but what good is that when you won't even be making it to the 2nd round?
