Game Thread W2 - NY Giants V Philadelphia (1 Viewer)

Andy Hicks

Footballguy
Welcome to Week 2

Once the game kicks off this thread will be pinned, but for now it will run on its own merits.

Please provide your thoughts, pre, during and after the game.

Remember that not everyone will be watching this game, so if you could provide detailed analysis it would be much appreciated. ***PLEASE BE CIVIL***

Things like 'Go Reggie' aren't what we are looking for.

Why will team X win?

Who is the QB targetting?

How are the lines looking?

Who's running the ball well?

Who looks in over his head?

Who's injured (also reference this in the injury thread which will be created once the sunday games are live)

Anything that you think will be of benefit to someone not watching the game or who doesn't care about your fantasy team.

Post game analysis, in particular is what we want to see.

Go for it

I'm an Eagles homer and I can't outright predict an Eagles win.

I've been on record as saying that the game is a "must-win" for NY and if they lose this one they will not make the playoffs.

That being said Donovan McNabb has won the last 7 games against NY, and it took overtime for them to beat the Eagles second team last year at the Linc.

NY played very undisciplined at home last week and I look for that to continue this week. Eli will commit some costly turnovers and the Birds will capitalize.

I see a 24-21 type game.

I would also say it is a "must win" even though in week 2 there is almost no such thing.

Im very confident NY will win, there arent many teams in the league this year that can beat them 2 out of 3 IMO. Good luck sir.

Looking forward to this game. Lito will be out but I think Hood will substitute in very nicely (maybe even better than Lito...?). My only concern is when Hanson and Wynn are in as nickel and dime backs.

Other than that, I expect Westbrook to be fine and contribute nicely tomorrow. I think the Giants will key in on Stallworth and Westbrook so I hope to see Reggie Brown to take advantage of it tomorrow if he is to progress to the next level.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the D-line rotation does against the Giants O-line tomorrow. They had a great game against the Texans, but needless to say... that was hardly the ideal lithmus test.

I think Giants are a quality team and it ought to be a good game. Looking forward to it! :pickle:

Wow, not sure that Akers shouldn't have received a personal foul on that. He may actually be lucky that he didn't get tossed. He did get blocked in the back so maybe that kind of saved him, but taking a shot at a sideline coach like that is pretty bush league.

might wanna cover Toomer

that was almost like spotting them 6 points, wow

Great first drive. Eli was good in the pocket, and moving out of it to avoid the hit.

Tiki can not run laterally against this defense. His best run was up the gut. Hopefully they pick up on that soon.

The Eagles severely overpursued Jacobs on the play action which led to the TD. The reputation of Jacobs being the bull in between the tackles cost the Eagles.

The Giants O-line was good, but not great. There was pressure on Eli but they did well in spread the pressue to create a moving pocket. Good blitz pickup so far.

Eli spreading his looks to Plaxico, Toomer and Shockey so far.

Eli's pass to Toomer was a duck, but he was so wide open it didn't matter. Hopefully Eli strengthens his ability to throw downfield on the run like that.

LJ Smith wide open in the middle of the field for 30 yards. Giants D isn't playing the zone very well so far.

No huddle offense out of the gate for the Eagles.

Umenyiora with great pursuit of the runner so far.

3rd and 2 and Bukhalter looks like LaDanian Tomlinson cutting behind the collapsing line, breaking across the grain and picking up 4.

Giants challenge the play. The replay shows both STallworth and MAdison comgin down with the ball, hitting the ground, and Madison rips it from Satallworth.

Both players are either out of bounds or very very close to it while possession is questionable.

Madison came up with the ball and it never hit the ground, but I'm betting NY losses the challenge.

Meanwhile the Giants D looks, well, bad.

Hey NYG D, way to escort Westbrook into the end zone. lol - their D looks like the one they played against last week.

After the first drives by both teams:

Giants D is very very not good. This could be a very long year if the D plays like this with the schedule the team has.

Aside: Reggis Bush v. Diet Pepsi machine commerical on now. Very funny.

Eagles kickoff - Akers does not fight any coaches or offensive lineman.

Morton looks stupid on the return. Running 50 yards to gain 9.
