Game Thread W3 - Chicago V Minnesota (1 Viewer)

Wow, with the game AT Minnesota and with the refs in their hip pocket, I thought Minnesota would OWN this game. The last meaningful game for the Bears against the NFC North is now in the 4th quarter."Unnecessary roughness on the defense" and "Offsides on Alex Brown" the two biggest joke calls I've seen in quite awhile.
Neither of those was as bad as the pass interference call on Williamson.

Yay! Screw FOX for cutting away at the last 90 seconds though.

EDIT: Grats to the Vikes for making it a very stressful game though.

Let this go, please. Williamson pulled a switchblade on the guy and then called in an airstrike.

I hope all Bears fans saw the Packers / Lions score today....

55 total points.

Those DEFENSES SUCK!

So let's keep things in perspective from this point forward.

The Bears are one of the better teams in the NFC, and the best team in the NFC North.

I'm a little worried though that these are mediocre-at-best offenses though. I think against good teams, we both get owned.

Go BEARS!!!!!Congrats to the Vikes, they did play a tough game, tougher than I thought they would.
When you're playing at home in a domed stadium, with the refs calling everything in your favor - there is no excuse for losing. The Vikings got outplayed today - Rex almost won the game for them though. Did their offense score a TD today?

I swear I'm not saying this as a bitter Vikes fan, but I think you're dead wrong here. Same goes for the Vikes.

Nope. Bears have still only given up one offensive TD this season.

This is a reasonable and true observation. Looking forward to the Sunday night game next week. GO HAWKS!

Ok, someone please tell me what happened in the last 90seconds. Obviously nothing happened, but....
:hot: :hot: :hot: :hot: Grossman throws a TD.Vikes get a good runback, the Childress has an anyerism and on fourth and two WITH A MINUTE LEFT ON THE CLOCK AND A TIME OUT HE CALLS A BOMB. Line blocks like ####, Johnson has pressure all in his face and throws a lousy pass. Bears take over. :wall: :wall:   Somebody check the water in the cooler in the coaches office. Shades of last year.Refs may have been on Ziggys payroll, but Childress is on Lovie Smithsunfreakin believable

Yeah, local coverage here in NorCal switched to the SF game in the last 90 seconds... and it was at commercials. LAME.

As for the game, very ugly, and hard fought. I too think that Min got a couple more breaks on the calls today, but it works that way sometimes... it ususally balances out over the course of the season.

Grossman played like I basically thought he would. Made some big plays and gives the Bears a legit down-field passing attack, something they haven't had in years, but also makes some bad decisions. Hopefully with a few more games Grossman's decision making will improve a little bit. That INT he threw going to TJ almost cost the game. Min's offense couldn't do much at all today... but then again, neither couuld Chicago's until the very end.

It was a battle. I'm happy the Bears escaped with a win. Min has their team on the right track... and their defense seems very solid.

Benson = 0 carries in a hard-fought, tight game.
Seriously that might have to change. We have got nothing out of the running game, and a top 5 pick from a year ago riding pine. At least see what he can do
If Benson can't pick up the blitz, there's good reason WHY he wasn't on the field today. He's best served on the bench wondering where he can score his next nickel bag.
Dont be stupid Grid. TJ really hurt us today. You dont know if thats the case about the blitzWe HAVE to start running the ball

I love when fans of teams the Bears beat argue that their teams are so bad that the victory is meaningless. It warms the cockles of my heart.

The Vikes have looked better than they have in quite a while this year, and people are calling for the new coaches head after one bad playcall in a last second loss to the team that most probably have to represent the NFC in the superbowl?

:lmao:

That was one of the worst officiated games I've seen this year. You can argue the calls balanced out, but that isn't an argument that should even come up in the NFL.

Granted it was against the Bears who have a very good defense, but as a Vikings fan, our defense has improved tremendously, but our offense better start putting up some TDs instead of FGs when we get into the red zone.

Seriously you're wrong. The coaching staff didn't commit to the run game today. They haven't all year. At one point in the second half, TJ was rolling and then they killed the drive with a dumb pass attempt on 3rd down and 3 when the Vikings defense was on their heals. Just horrible play calling all day IMO.1-10-CHI39 (8:32) T.Jones left guard to CHI 47 for 8 yards (A.Winfield).

2-2-CHI47 (7:59) PENALTY on CHI-O.Kreutz, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at CHI 47 - No Play.

2-7-CHI42 (7:41) T.Jones up the middle to CHI 47 for 5 yards (P.Williams).

3-2-CHI47 (6:59) R.Grossman pass short right to B.Berrian to MIN 48 for 5 yards (A.Winfield).

1-10-MIN48 (6:24) T.Jones left guard to MIN 31 for 17 yards (G.Blue; H.Farwell).

1-10-MIN31 (5:44) PENALTY on MIN-K.Williams, Neutral Zone Infraction, 5 yards, enforced at MIN 31 - No Play.

1-5-MIN26 (5:34) T.Jones up the middle to MIN 20 for 6 yards (N.Harris, B.Leber).

1-10-MIN20 (4:58) PENALTY on MIN-P.Williams, Encroachment, 5 yards, enforced at MIN 20 - No Play.

1-5-MIN15 (4:41) T.Jones up the middle to MIN 12 for 3 yards (F.Smoot).

2-2-MIN12 (4:10) T.Jones left guard to MIN 13 for -1 yards (K.Udeze).

3-3-MIN13 (3:27) R.Grossman pass incomplete short right to R.Davis.

No, you're wrong. Jones hasnt performed this year, bottom line. If you want to blame the play-calling, take into consideration that it might just be because of how ineffective Jones has been. This isnt the kind of football the Bears should be playing

6 running plays in the first half vs. 20 passing plays.

Hard to run the ball when you don't have the chance, and you're spending all your time picking up blitzes.

Every week that goes by, I get more disenchanted with Brad Johnson. He fails to put the ball in Chester Taylor's bread basket and throws up a hail mary on 4th and 2. He also has a tendency to hold the ball and take a sack (or intentional grounding) whenever we get within the opponent's red zone.

It appears Brad Johnson's responsibility is to post zeros; 0 completions, 0 passing yards and 0 rushing yards - provided he has 0 turnovers. But even with these minimal responsibilities he is still screwing up.

I'm still :hot: about the way the vikes finished that drive.

3rd down, run.. K, maybe a draw play, but a straight run wasn't fooling anyone.

Than on 4th and 2, with over a minute left you call a "hey, lets  them and throw it deep" pass  WTF

And Brad, um you are better than that, At least that is what we've been lead to believe.

WR has a CB and a roaming Safety on him, look for the short 2 yard 1st down pass and move the chains..

If Culpepper was still here and threw that :bs: pass he'd be run out of town.

OK, over :bye:
