Game Thread W3 - New England V Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

Big Ben is the hardest QB in the league to sack it seems. Huge, mobile, strong vision, and a great arm. With that said, he is due for an interception. DUE!

Roethlisberger badly overthrows everyone on third and 15 despite a lighter than normal Patriots pass rush.
but they were rushing him, it's because of the defense!
Just not your day eh?? That was CLEARLY a bad throw....had nothing to do with the pass rush...no one was near him!

Holy cow, I thought Brady threw that away. The ball went off the bottom corner of the screen and then you see Branch come diving into the picture.

Brady, solid.Brady's best QB rating is in the 4th quarter trailing...this should be interesting to see if it holds up.

 Keep on marching boys...

Patrick Pass the only back in the backfield. Shawn, please don't take that to mean that Faulk and Dillon have been benched; it turns out he's their best combination of blocking and receiving.

Patriots flinging the football everywhere, faking out the cameraman on one play where he locked on one WR that he thought the ball was going to, except there was another WR further along for an 8 yard gain. Short strikes. Long strikes. I've seen this movie before.

what happened to the idea of using FWP on screens...Week 1 he had a looooong one. Cmon Steelers! use your guys right!

See? Dillon rushes for 4 up the gut. HUGE CATCH AND RUN BY GIVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11ONEONEONEONE11!!!Pats inside the ten.

I tell you, the Steelers write the same book every year. I know it's not "officially" over but another loss at home, favored, when will someone be held accountable over there?

It would be interesting to see the Patriots take a late lead here. Under Bill Cowher, the Steelers' biggest flaw has been rallying late. Cowher teams have shown poor clock management and an inability to make the big game winning drive. They are good at running the football 17x in a row, not 2 minute drills. Especially against good teams.I want to see if this team is any different, and how Ben handles the pressure of needing to produce with the game on the line. Should show us the talent level and character of these Steelers.

Still over 10 minutes left. They can run all they want.

The Patriots hit paydirt on a money drive. Just like champions do. Let's see what the Steelers got. Pretty good early season gut check game here.

It's also interesting that, down 3 in the fourth quarter, the Pats were still taking the clock down to 1 on every play. They know the Steelers aren't built for the game winning drive, and are gambling that they can score, and that the Steelers can't.

They could just run themselves right out of the game, too. I've seen Cowher do that before.

I wonder how "right" his shoulder is. We really haven't seen much since he went down. We might be seeing it here shortly...

Bull####! Big Ben is built for a game winning drive. He is the first QB the Steelers have had in a long time that can pull off the come from behind dagger.

What a play by Haynes. Roethlisberger avoids a couple possible sacks in the end zone, floats one just over Vrabel's head, and Haynes breaks a couple tackles, to get the first down. Gus Scott down for the Patriots. Looks like the Troy Brown defensive back experiment will be back next week.

I have seen too many football games to not know what is about to happen. If the Steelers don't get a score on thsi drive, I'll eat my hat.

In past situations like this, I recall seeing Cowher teams just take too much to get to the line and use up too much time. Then it eventually forces them to be in a bad spot like having to convert a 4th a long or something.
