Game Thread W4 - Indianapolis V NY Jets (1 Viewer)

Terrible that Coles got hurt. How in the heck are they gonna score that play? So many people touched the ball. The Colts will get credit for a fumble recovery, but the yardage may be nuts to figure out.

Good game, Colts fans. That Colts offense is fantastic, which is nothing we didn't already know. Two TDs in the final 5:30 is tough.

The Jets played their best game of the year, so there's reason for optimism. Obviously it stings to lose this one, and the Jets are now 2-0 on the road but 0-2 at home.

Games against Jacksonvile, Miami, Detroit and Cleveland mean the Jets absolutely can't afford having a losing record at mid-season, and should have a winning record. 5-3 would be a very sweet first half, with the second half schedule being:

@NE

CHI

HOU

@GB

BUF

@MIN

@MIA

OAK

The Jets should be able to win 9 games this year, although it's hard to say which half they'll win the five in.

Congrats to the Colts fans.

Basic lesson here:Jets don't go for FG a LONG time ago. Don't make it.Tons of scoring goes on, on both teams after.If they lose by 3 that in NO WAY reflects on a FG because BOTH teams would have played different kind of ball if they had made the FG!!!
Please don't use logic here.
totally disagree. I'm sure this will be a hotly debated topic, so I'm gonna start a new thread.
I'll summarize my argument. With that much time left, it's impossible to predict what the final score will be. Using the result of losing by 3 as your argument is silly.
Again, please don't use logic here or this won't become a heatly debated topic for the upcoming week.

I'm gonna LMAO when the jest lose this game by 3
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: man if only the jest could've found 3 points somewhere......MORONIC CALL
Good results oriented thinking here. You'll go far.
Even not knowing how the game was going to turn out, that was an incredibly stupid call.
It was very poor execution. Pennington should've thrown the ball away if it wasn't there. Going for it is the right call.

Can any of you guys still get the Jets feed to find out more on Coles?J
from watching another replay, Coles got slammed into the turf shoulder first when he was being tackled....if I had to guess, I'd have to guess there is at least a separation.

I'm very impressed with the Jets. They looked really good today, and a small part of me wanted them to win because of their effort. (A very small part - like 1/100 of 1 percent).

I have no problem with them going for it, but get your two stud WRs on the field for that play Mangini!!!!

Thus far, they have given Coles a fumble lost :loco: and no yards on the play. I have a feeling that they have to change the scoring considering that another Jet had the ball after Coles (both times). They are also going to have to figure out yards receiving for people and it has to total up to the the net between the line of scrimmage and where possession is lost. Good luck in having that happen soon.Coles looked like he had the wind knocked out of him when 3 big guys fell on him. At least that is the best case from an optimist who has no other knowledge. :ph34r:

or wind simply knocked out of him by that slam to the turf
that writhing looked worse than just trying get your wind back. He was spiked there by at least one huge guy.

LOL...no way he throws the ball away on 4th and goal.

Do you think CBS will credit the players with their yards for that play? Looks like Coles should get 32 yards.

Looks like Coles got credited for some of that. He had 60 something yards before the play, and now is credited for 81 yards.

they'll fix that. I don't think lateral yards count. not 100% positive though.someone from the colts recovered at teh end.

I'll take the 30 or so yards and the fumble recovery but I'm worried about his health right now.

I didn't get to see any of the game. What exactly does this mean? Was he really that bad on 9 carries?

About 50 seconds left in the game, he decides to field the KO in the end zone, bobbles the ball, picks it up and still tries to return it despite now having ZERO running room, gets stuffed at the 2 instead of taking the touchback.

If I am not mistaken, on a pass play all players who touch the ball get credit for receiving yards until the ball touches the ground and the QB gets the TD. In other words during the first set of laterals, before any fumbles, Coles ran for 19 yards, hence why he went from 62 to 81, but after the first fumble it could no longer be counted as receiving yards, hence why he did not get credit for the second 13 yards. The only problem with this is that Pennington should have 7 yards receiving, and he does not. I remember when Brad Johnson threw a TD to himself in 1997 for the Vikes, he got credit for throwing and receiving td, and 3 yards receiving.

The Jets played great! Much better than what I saw against the Titans week 1.

I laugh at those who discredit the Colts win as barely beating the Jets. What were they supposed to do, blow them out? A road game is tough in the NFL, just ask the Seahawks!

As of right now, I'd say Power Poll looks like this:

Bears

Colts

Eagles

Ravens

Redskins

Seahawks

Pats

Bengals

Jags

Steelers

I think you need to add the Chargers and Broncos to that list and bump down the Redskins, Seahawks and Bengals for defense issues.

I would put both teams below the Steelers. I'm not sold on Rivers. I'm convinced Denver is a bust with Jake.Seahawhs,Skins defense is okay.Bengals D is similar to Colts, yet not as good.I can see the AFC Playoffs as:ColtsPatsChargersBengalsRavensJags

This was definitely the Game of the Year in the NFL so far this season.
I'm not sure it is the game of the week - considering the ending of Was/Jax. It was a really good game, though.
There's no doubt it was Game of the Week, pretty sure it became Game of the Year with the ending that only lacked the Stanford band marchiing onto the field.
