Game Thread W4 - Seattle V Washington (1 Viewer)

If Tatupu can put on some weight and keep his quickness, he could be a Seau-like lightning bolt of a linebacker. I keep seeing him slipping into the backfield quick as hell. What a motor. And the 'Hawks have the ball now. Need this drive to be successful and long if we want to stay in this game. Time for the Walrus to show the genius. Good luck Hawks!

I'm not being clear. The Seattle pass rush is non-existent. When Washington faces anything close to an average defense Brunell is going to get killed.
and why exactly is the Seattle pash rush non-existant? Maybe because of Washington's o-line?
Seriously, if you're going to count on Brunell converting 3rd and 10+ all game long every game you're in for a very long season.
Shick are you a Seattle homer?(I really don't know).because you sure sound like one. The Skins are playing their best offense of any game this season. They have ZERO 3-and-outs. They have dominated time of possession. They have put up a decent amount of points even though their kicker missed a 38 yarder. And you're seriously critisizing that? Nobody has ever said that Washington has a great offense. However, if they can dominate time of possession and put up 14+ points every week, then with that defense, they are a super bowl contender. If they turn the ball over and score under 10 per game, then they're not even a playoff team....and with today's performance, things are looking good.

I think what he' saying is that despite their impressive stats, they haven't takne advantage of the good parts of their game in the way of points against a mediocre defense. That'll put them in trouble against good Ds.

Of course their offense will struggle against good Ds- they aren't a good offense. However, today is an encouraging sign for a team that hasn't topped 14 points yet this year, and with that D, they don't need much.

Yes. I'm a northwest guy. I'm just objectively analyzing what I see. I think you're seeing the absolutely best you'll see out this Washington offense getting to play against a terrible defense. I think they're going to struggle all season long. Go back and check out how many 3rd and longs that Washington has converted. You're not going to get that every week.

Again, I'm not disagreeing with you that Washington has a poor offense. However, I strongly disagree that this isn't a good sign for them. Have you seen their first two games? Today is a positive for that unit.

Another thing to add. Even though Seattle just went 95 yards to tie it up, I'm very impressed with the Washington defense. They will win you guys games even with a terrible offense (like we saw in weeks 1 and 2).

I agree its an improvement, but I credit most of that success to a poor Seattle defense. I think we're on the same page. This is the first time I've watched Washington this season, and I see big trouble for them in the future if they aren't more successful on first and second down. Again, relying on Brunell to bail them out (like they have today) is not a good play for success.

nfl.com is down for me...how'd they score on that drive(I know Jackson scored, but what kind of play was it and how was the rest of the drive)? How much time left?

6 yards. Quick slant.12 seconds left now. Seattle going to attempt the game winner after the Brunell INT.

I hate blaming refs, but in this tight game the 4 point swing of a phantom PI call really hurt. I wish the 'Hawks would find a way to overcome these things, like a champion team does.

This is what I mean. That was a terrible throw from Brunell.
Ok now you're being stupid. One bad throw doesn't prove your point.
You're right. It wasn't just one bad throw. I'm telling you that Brunell isn't going to win you many games. I've been watching the past two years and I don't see him getting any better.Washington gets the ball first in overtime. Can they win? Sure. Maybe Brunell will march them down the field, but I don't expect to see Brunell have a better game than this for the rest of the season.

Did you think Trent Dilfer would win the 2000 Ravens many games? With a great defense, the offense doesn't have to score a ton...just control the clock and limit mistakes.

Is their defense really that good? Seattle hasn't had a ton of trouble moving the ball, they just haven't hit many big plays and have made a few dumb mistakes (penalties).

Sure, it could happen. But I wouldn't count on the statistical outlier to reoccur. I guess there's always hope.

Just like Colin, I think you have a habit to blame your own team and not credit the other team too much. After week 1, he was saying that tennessee was the worst team in the league, totally terrible, etc. I told him it was just Pitt, and sure enough they've looked better since then(not today though)....kinda a reverse homerism type thing.

I think they might be. That Seattle short passing game is very sharp. Washington might not see a better short passing game this season.

I think they're the best D in the league. Last year, despite having an offense that turned the ball over a ton and left them in terrible field shape and never gave them rest, they were still dominant. If they win this game here, it will be 37 points through 3 games, which comes out to under 200 on the year, which is pretty damn good.

nfl.com still down and yahoo.com and espn.com are pretty slow in updating, so I'd GREATLY appriciate constant updates. TIA.

Kicker in for the field goal. Delay of game Washington. 5 yard penalty on Washington moving them back 5 yards.
