Game Thread W5 - Atlanta V Tennessee (1 Viewer)

Over, Falcons did a better job of beating themselves than the Titans did.If Petrino pulled Joey, and it wasn't because of injury, he ought to be shot.
Falcons D gives Leftwich the ball inside the 20 twice in the last 4 minutes and he cant get them in.I thought Petrino was a genius? What the hell was the pitch call inside the 1 yard line. IDIOT!!
I was wondering what happened. Sounds like he decided to get "cute" with the game on the line at the 1 yard line. How about challenging your olineman to get a yard that they should be able to get in 3 plays? ######ed.

but Leftwich sounded HORRIFIC from following the stats
Believe me, he didn't just sound horrible. He was outright awful.EDIT: FWIW, here was the play by play from NFL.com

1-1-TEN 1 (2:00) 4-B.Leftwich to TEN 1 for no gain. FUMBLES, touched at TEN 1, recovered by ATL-28-W.Dunn at TEN 9. 28-W.Dunn to TEN 9 for no gain (93-K.Vanden Bosch).

2-9-TEN 9 (1:19) 4-B.Leftwich pass incomplete short right to 87-J.Horn.

3-9-TEN 9 (1:14) (Shotgun) 4-B.Leftwich pass incomplete short middle to 83-A.Crumpler [97-T.Brown]. PENALTY on TEN-98-A.Odom, Defensive Offside, 5 yards, enforced at TEN 9 - No Play.

3-4-TEN 4 (1:10) 4-B.Leftwich pass incomplete short right to 83-A.Crumpler (50-D.Thornton).

4-4-TEN 4 (1:05) (Shotgun) 4-B.Leftwich sacked at TEN 12 for -8 yards (93-K.Vanden Bosch). Penalty on ATL-79-R.Foster, Offensive Holding, declined.

Give max credit to Haynesworth and one of the most unorthodox moves I've seen in some time. He literally dove over the O-line and grabbed Leftwich as soon as he took the snap, forcing the botched pitch. And then KVB ran right through that substitute LT to very nearly sack Leftwich on 4th down.Ugly, ugly, ugly win...but I'll take it!

They couldn't run the ball to save their lives, they had no choice. And whoever said Leftwich should be cut, couldn't be more right. Redman would've been a better choice for whatever reason Joey was pulled, and that's sayin' something. I'm so disgusted I could puke, but I'm going to have to be patient til he gets some O-Lineman who are slightly stronger than tissue paper.

Am I the only person who halfway expected Tennessee to fumble the snap when they were kneeling down to end the game? That's the only thing I could think of to make this game any uglier and less professional. What an awful effort by both teams, the lone exception being the Ten defense.

I've always thought Leftwich is a ridiculously overrated player, but even I was stunned at how badly he played in relief today. I wouldn't be surprised to learn later that he hasn't learned the playbook yet and had no real idea what was going on. He looked completely lost out there, like Billy Joe Hobert.

;) Ugly game. SO bad they stopped showing instant replays at the stadium. OTOH most of the mess for the Titans was on the special teams, defense looked good.

Its amazing how Vince can throw 3 picks yet still do enough to win
VY is my guy...but that was the worst game I have ever seen him play. Just putrid both in actions and decisions. Vile.
Titans defense is so underrated
Let me tell you something -- the Titans' D is really, really good. Young, hungry, and good. I knew it was going to be much better but IMO they are one of the top 5-7 Def units I've seen this year. NOBODY has put up any sort of #s against them...period. Our offense gives up a touchdown, gives ATL the ball at least 4 times including twice right at the end, special team allows 2 long runbacks and a 49 yard fake punt...and the D still manages to win the game for us.
Ugliest game of football I've seen in a long time.
True. But you know what? Football can be an ugly game. What bigtime defensive team doesn't win several ugly ones? I don't care if they are ugly or not.
Anyone else coming to the game -- stop by the big tailgate in lot N. The one with the really tall flagpole and ask for Phillip.
Noted for future reference
It is a great one, at that. Email me next time.
