Bledsoe: Go ahead, blitz, and you'll pay
Staff and Wire Reports
IRVING, Texas - Dallas Cowboys quarterback Drew Bledsoe is ready to turn Terrell Owens loose at the Linc.
Asked about facing the Eagles' vaunted blitz tomorrow, Bledsoe didn't back down yesterday.
"When I've got the weapons that I have right now,
yeah, yeah, go ahead, come after me as much as you want. Because I'm gonna get the ball out of my hands into the hands of one of these guys that can score from anywhere on the field," said Bledsoe, who has a strong wide receiving tandem in No. 1 Terry Glenn and No. 2 Owens, plus tight end Jason Witten.
(I guess he meant Lito?)
"When you're limited, weaponswise, then that can change...
With what we're doing game-plan-wise to handle the blitz, and with the weapons that we have, yeah, I welcome people. Go ahead, you can come after us and try and pressure us. But you're gonna have to deal with some consequences when you do."
Owner Jerry Jones said the Cowboys' weapons are forcing opposing defenses to adjust.
"There's no question that we're backing them off with Terry Glenn, Terrell Owens and what we're doing in our passing game," Jones said on his radio show. "We've got them backed off. We've got them playing pass defense. That always helps your blocking."
Coach Bill Parcells also has noted that Owens and Glenn have taken some pressure off Bledsoe and the offensive line.
Talking about adjusting to a blitz, Parcells said earlier this week: "Well, you definitely have to calculate when you're going to take your chances there, because you can get beat. Those guys can hurt you."

Parcells is not worried about the crowd. He said yesterday he figured the fans wouldn't have much of an impact.
"The key is the same as always. It's an execution game. If you execute well and things go well, then you usually wind up playing well," he said. "If you don't, you don't. The crowd doesn't have anything to do with it, in my opinion."
