Game Thread W5 - Green Bay V Atlanta (1 Viewer)

Is Madden back in the booth and Favre in green and gold, these guys can't slobber enough over GB. Damn guys, considering how average (if that) Atlanta has looked this year, this wasn't even all that impressive.

ETA: Second tip INT and still can't slobber on GB enough.
Good times for the pack when a two score road win over last years #1 seed is not impressive. :boxing:
Last year has what to do with this years Atlanta teams performance?

I actually agree with you, the Falcons have looked decidedly average this year. But the Packers still went on the road against a team hungry to avenge last years embarrassment, and what happened? The supposedly crappy pass defense gave up only 156 yards and came away with two picks. The offense was dropping passes and fumbling and giving up sacks all over and still rolled up 426 yards and put 25 points on the board. Sorry they let you down.

Sounds better when you say it like that, maybe just high expectations. Haven't seen the Pack this year but grew up in Wisky and all I heard all week was the Pack dropping 50 and winning by 3+ scores. With our defense, 25 points against is :excited: (gave up 28 to Seattle just last week) since they suck and the Pack have a great offense. Not sure how we are your low point total, stat wise we are on the same level as Denver and you dropped 49 on them. Whatever, it was impressive enough to win. Their fans interpretation is certainly a lot more than mine who won't watch them again this year since it seems the Falcons won't be making the playoffs.

Roddy's looked meh all year long. JMO Julio's going to be the #1 sooner rather than later. (IMO By the end of the year)And Julio looks the part of a future superstar at WR...Atlanta better hope so with as much as they gave for him.
Julio got shut down 1 on 1 by a 2nd year db who could not even start for his college team

Sam Shields is no slouch, although he's had a rough start to this year. But I found it interesting that when Dom started playing man instead of zone, the Falcons were shut down. With how much GB has been passed on, I wonder if this is something we'll see more of?Also, they need to get some kind of pass rush opposite Clay. Matthews isn't getting the sacks, but he's consistently getting pressure. They need someone one the other side to get in there and Walden is clearly not that guy. I know So'to didn't suit up, but I wonder if he'll get a chance eventually. He had a good preseason, although who knows how that will transalte to the regular season.

It's a good thing Ted Thompson drafted as many Offensive Tackles as he has. Even so, it's going to be a lot tougher for Rodgers to stay upright when teams have time to game plan to take advantage of the inexperience of those tackles.
I would think Bulaga would be back next week though.Depending on whats up with Clifton...will they keep Newhouse at LT and Bulaga at RT if he is back though?

"Whisky"??!? Where you from? Eau Claire or something? Anyways, not sure if you saw all of the dropped Touchdown passes in that game or not, but there should have been 3 Touchdowns vs. the 3 Field goals.

Regardless, more impressive was the total shutdown of Atlanta's passing game in the 2nd half by the defense when even Kyle Orton lit them up .

Interesting how much more quickly NBC gets the replay going for big plays against the Packers. Atlanta had zero chance to get a play off before McCarthy had an opportunity to see the replay. It would be nice if they gave the Falcons the same courtesy.

That was a BULLCRAP overrule. I'm simply amazed at that.
He never controlled it.

Lot of game time left to prove me wrong. But so far, every "reviewable" play has jumped on screen immediately for the Packers to review.

Screw collinsworth. Didn't realize he and McCarthy were an item. That was a horse#### call
Gotta control it at some point, he never did.

Just don't see how completing the process of catching the ball and going to the ground rule changes have made it a better game. Just awful rules as they are now interpreted.
:goodposting: Someone else mentioned 2 feet down, used to be a catch.

Yup, it still should be.

On that play though, I don't think he ever had possession of the ball. Looked like he was bobbling it all the way through.

Yes. McCarthy has shown consistently that he prefers to only move 1 starting O-lineman if he can help it. Thus Bulaga would stay at RT, Newhouse would shift to LT.

McCarthy has shown that.Yet, last night, they moved Newhouse and Sherrod. Sherrod had not been working at RT but at LT...and Newhouse has been working RT since coming in for Bulaga.

Newhouse is the primary backup at LT and RT. Seemed like McCarthy wanted his most solid option at LT to protect the blind side. He seemed comfortable largely leaving Newhouse alone there. Clearly he wasn't comfortable leaving Sherrod there yet....which makes sense after watching Sherrod's pad level. Dude looks like he is standing straight up all the time.
