Game Thread W8 - Chicago V Detroit (1 Viewer)

Lions = PWNED at home, baby!  Nice job, Bears.  The Lions have ability this year, but near zero reliability and even less consistency.  I'm glad we got the crappy Lions that show up 80% of the time.
HTF did they get owned
Did they lose?
Lost at home to the Bears for the division lead = PWNED.
Owned is what the Giants did to the Skins. Losing in overtime is not owned.....sorry.

If you're in the NFC North, you're a loser anyway you look at it. If you're the bigger loser, the only term you can use for it is :own3d: . :D

Good to see the Bears overcome a questionable call at best and win this game in overtime....

DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE

Like I posted in another thread, they have very important... beyond important, playoff tie breaking implications coming up against Atlanta, Carolina and Tampa.

Chicago is 3-0 against their division and 1-3 outside of it.

Don't forget that rookie wall might be coming for Orton soon, right in time for Pitt Atlanta and Tampa.
No, today was the beyond important, playoff tie breaking implications game. It meant they'd swept their nearest divisional rival and went 3-0 in the division. Anyway, you conveniently forgot to mention their next two games are against the Saints and the 49ers.

Yep, the Bears are in great position to take control of this division!NO could be an interesting game - the Saint haven't played well, but they are still at 'home', meanwhile the Bears should take care of SF.

If you win the NFC North, you host a first round playoff game - I'd hardly call that being a loser.

If you get trounced in the 1st round of the playoffs, you're a loser by most books.

That's funny, I swear that was the same thing I heard about the White Sox. I wonder how they ended up?Good call on Thomas Jones as well

What mighty juggernaut in the NFC would trounce the Bears in Soldier Field?Stupid

You probably had them going 4-12, 5-11 and now are just bitter that they appear to be on the way to the NFC North. Why don't you talk abou the AFC East where that division to his point has been pretty brutal...oh yeah, let's not talk about that division because the Patriots are Super Bowl locks.

You're correct. When you have a defense that is as good as the Bears, it's a little tough to see them getting blown out.

Not really. I love statements that start off with "you probably" because it's a big signal that the poster has no clue what they are talking about. In REALITY, I was warning everyone on the Lions bandwagon (because of the uber stud offensive players they supposedly drafted), that Chicago was a team to watch and they could be the new powerhouse of the division.

Why don't you talk abou the AFC East where that division to his point has been pretty brutal...oh yeah, let's not talk about that division because the Patriots are Super Bowl locks.
Way to prove my first statement right about you being clueless. This had nothing to do with the AFC East or the Patriots. The AFC East sucks almost as bad though. Happy?

What would you say about the Bears if they go 6-0 in their division and 2-6 outside of it?I'd say they better hope the Lions make the playoffs or they won't have anyone to beat.

Why that sounds almost exactly like the 2004 Rams. They couldn't beat anyone consistently last year but the Seahawks. Fortunately for the Rams, the Seahawks made the playoffs and played them in the wildcard round.

A divisional winner is a loser in your world.Yeah, pretty intelligent you are.

I might agree with you if they went 6-10, 7-9, but they have won three in a row, have 2 winnable games coming up (outside of the NFC North), and have a shot at 9 or 10 wins possibly.

You really have no clue what being able to play good defense consistently means in this league.

So, you think if the Bears actually hosted a 1st round playoff game, that they would have no chance to win, and would probably lose handily ?Who do you think is so much better than the Bears ?

You really have no clue what being able to play good defense consistently means in this league.
Besides the fact I've been rating them the #1 or #2 defense all year long?
So they have a top defense, are playing at home against a wildcard team, but the Bears don't really have a shot to win ? ? ? ? ?I would call you a name here, but I don't want to sound as ignorant as you did earlier.

Depends on how well their offense holds up the rest of the season. It's resting on an oft injured RB who's shown little heart up to this year and a rookie QB playing well late into the season. Also keep in mind if the Bears finish with 9 or 10 wins, they are basically a wild card team in the guise of a division winner.

Remember all those dominant Tampa defenses that could never get anywhere most years because they had nothing for offense? How about the Ravens this year?

If their offense becomes unglued late in the season, they are looking at a quick exit IF they make the playoffs, home or not. If Orton holds up, who knows?

There's lots that can go wrong for them to keep them OUT of the playoffs, much less making it.

I think we finally agree on something!Their defense will keep them in most every game, but it will be tough to win if Orton/offense is making turnovers' in their own territory.

I do realize that a wildcard opponent could have as many wins as they have. I'm not saying the Bears would even win the wildcard game, just that they have a shot to.

Until they get better offensively, every game will be a struggle.

And, finally, I agree, there's a lot that can go wrong - but as we stand right now, they are in control of their division.

This is a completely moot point. The Bears simply making the playoffs this season will be a victory for the franchise. Regardless of what they'd do in the postseason.

LOL at all the Bears fans gloating over beating the Lions.
You should learn how to read. Most of these comments are directed at what the bears would do in the First round of the playoffs if they make it. Bears fans should be happy. They beat the lions twice this year and hold the division lead. NFC is a crappy division, but it doesn't matter, you beat the teams on the schedule and go from there.

Oh well. If the bears win the division they'll be one and out in the playoffs.

You seem to have an issue with the Bears...Funny though, I heard the same thing about the White Sox... one and out. Seems that things worked out for them rather nicely.

Jeff Garcia took the most vicious beating I've ever seen a QB take. The guy never had time to throw.I was cursing at the TV when Orton missed Muhsin wide open in OT. Cedric looked nice with his carries. Glad they went to him. Monsterous performance by the defense. What great instincts by Peanut Tillman, after all the things that have went on with him this year. Peanuts.......Peanuts......Get your Peanuts.4-3 and on to New Orleans  .
