Game Thread W9 - Denver V Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

Another week, 5 more turnovers, with 3 of them coming inside the Broncos 10 yard line and 1 inside their own. Same story, different week for the Steelers.500 yards of offense and another loss.Congrats to the Broncos.
I know alot of us talked after last year's playoff game--I really feel bad for the Steelers this year. It really is a flukey game. I never thought the Ravens would be where they are in your division. The AFC West is again showing what a strong division it always has been. San Diego (against what I predicted--I was waaaayy wrong) is a monster and Denver is going to have to do some better work on defense to beat that team.

TURNOVER!TURNOVER!TURNOVER!TURNOVER!TURNOVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Is anyone else sick of this ####### ####!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Nothing against the Broncos. They played well. But Holmes, Roethlisberger, etc, etc, etc. Jesus ####ing Christ this is getting old!!!!!!!!
Can't pin this one on Ben at all, or at least not very much. It was 14-0 in a few minutes because of the defense and Holmes, and Ben did his best playing from behind the entire game. He had one costly INT, one that was on 3rd and 19 that worked out like a great punt, and one on a useless hail mary. Ben threw the ball well today - the guy had 433 yards at about 8 yards per attempt and completed 70% of his passes.

what happened??
Ward dived for end zone, Lynch knocked ball out before he crossed end zone.
That #######g play jsut cost me 10 points to the last place team in the league. -6 for no TD -2 for fumble lost & +2 for my opponent who has the Broncos defense (plus the score would have probably knocked down his defenses points for allowing 6 more points). I am now going to lose unless the SD Defense can score 13 points in the next 4 minutes. (did I mention that he also has Javon Walker on his team) I NOW OFFICAILLY HATE THE STEELERS!!!!

:D We're not looking for pity! We enjoyed every minute of last season, so we take the bad with the good. As a Steelers fan, we've had a lot more good than bad over the years, but this team is probably the most frustrating season I've ever experienced when you consider last season, the expectations on this one, and the way they seem to find ways to lose with turnovers.Oh well. The AFC West is a tough division for sure. I think the Broncos have what it takes if Plummer plays well and the defense recovers from the last two weeks. They seemed pretty banged up by the end of the game.

Apparently the Steelers burned through a lot of good karma on their run through the playoffs last year because it appears they have none left. This is the most frustrating season I can remember because they have essentially given themselves no chance in 4 games due to giving the ball away on turnovers; and the Steelers D hasn't done a good job of limiting the other team to FGs when those turnovers happen. I've given props to their opponents each week for being able to capitalize on the Steelers' generosity; but damn I'm getting tired of typing that sentence.

Finally, I heard Jaws on ESPN say that Roethlisberger's turnovers cost the Steelers the game, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The S. Holmes, C. Wilson and H. Ward turnovers were WAY more costly than Ben's ints (only one of which was actually costly as SteelersForLife explained).

Hopefully, I won't have to type that damn "props to the Steelers opponents" line next week :hot:

Having watched several Steeler games this year, they are a team that can compete with anybody and give you a good game. They just aren't efficient enough to get the Ws.

They still have a good enough defense, but they've shot themselves in the foot so many times they are going to take the field on wheelchairs soon.

YEPThis year is the most frustrating.. We gave away at least 3 games.. UGH!!!

Try owning Walker and starting Bryant instead. :wall: I want him to die.
NEVER BENCH YOUR STUDS.
not sure i'd classify walker as a stud. he's had a great game today but he's not a sure play every week.
In my league, not counting today, he is 11th among WR's in total points and points per week, meaning he is a legit number 1 WR. Sounds like a stud to me.
nobody cares about your league.. according to NFL.com, he is the 20th ranked WR. far from a stud. guess it's homervision.
Oh, so NFL.com is the authority on which players are studs? Gotcha.
So if we go by league points, he's 17th in my league. By your logic, my league has 17 WR studs.Nice.

yeah I can't believe they're only down 4. This is easily the worst season after a SB win ever.
1999 Broncos down? This Steelers team isn't even that bad- remember that Vegas thought highly enough of them to favor them by 3 against the 5-2 Broncos this week.

Champ should have had that.
Not known for his hands.
Ummm... yes he is. He's leading the NFL in INTs this year, and if he hadn't missed time he probably would have led the NFL in INTs last year, too. And he sometimes gets playing time as a WR. Bailey's very much known for his hands, although if Marvin Harrison can drop some balls sometime, I think it's okay for Bailey to do so, as well. ;)

Ben makes bad decisions.
He's made a ton of them this year, but before this year, he didn't.
Not true. Big Ben has always had won of the worst Int-per-attempt numbers in the league. The reason he never posted huge Int totals is because he had so few attempts. He was still a great QB because he was so valuable when he WASN'T making mistakes, but Ben did in fact make mistakes at a significantly higher rate than any of the other "good" QBs in the NFL.

Thank goodness for Javon Walker, 'cause right now we'd have no running game without him.
What can I say... Denver struggles running against the 3-4.

I've been watching this game. What the hell has happened to Pittsburgh? Now they make Jake Plummer look good? This is shocking.
Second consecutive great week by Plummer. I think we can now officially declare his slump busted.Welcome back, Jake. We've missed you.

Ward has a RING
So does LYNCH, and oh yeah, quite a few broncos have TWO rings-
Quite a few? Smith, Nalen, Elam, Burns... and I think that's it. Pryce and Carswell both had rings, but they're both gone this year.

Champ Bailey doesn't lead the league in INT's.
