Though he did not second-guess himself completely, McCarthy said his decision to throw the ball on first and goal from the Buffalo 1 late in the fourth quarter wasn't ideal. The slant pass he called to Donald Driver was tipped and intercepted in the end zone by safety Ko Simpson, who ran it back 76 yards to set up Buffalo's clinching touchdown."After seeing it on film, my job's to put the players in position to be successful, and a run probably would have been a safer call," McCarthy said. "But there's nothing wrong with the call. I probably won't call it again. But it's a play I've won a game with, and a play that potentially cost us the game."
