Game Thread W9 - Pittsburgh V Green Bay (1 Viewer)

Good thing Favre didn't forget Driver was out there.
Yeah that bounce off Drivers' hands for the pick was a killer. :( It'll go down in the books as a Favre interception, but that was all Drivers' fault.

Favre haters will be here soon trying to blame Favre for that INT.

Yes. It was Favre that threw it. Comes with the territory. If a GB WR makes an unbelievable catch from this fool, they say... great throw from the gunlinger...gets a little old as is Favre... :boxing:

He could have run for the first, so for that play he is a fool. I win. :P

Yes, you do win the hater contest.

1-7 but +9 in points. Has this ever been close to done before?
I'm tired of seeing this stat. I heard this 5 times on Sirius NFL radio this week - "Green Bay is 1-6 despite having outscored their opponents by 19 points!" Wonderful - they won one game 52-3. They haven't outscored their opponents in any other game this season. Who the hell cares about net points?

Frankly, as a Packer fan I have been very pleased that the team has not quit in spite of their rash of injuries. Very few teams could lose their top three R.B.'s, their #1, #3, and #4 receivers, along with all the other regular nicks and bruises teams get and still be fighting. They have been competitive, if clearly not up to the task. I am proud of the way they have acquited themselves.BTW nice win by the Steelers. Playing shorthanded they went against a team on the road, in poor weather, that might have jumped up and bit them. Survival is what it's all about, and they survived on a day when they played shorthanded.

They're not going to survive many games against better teams with Batch at the helm. WOW was he brutal.

He sucked only a little less than Maddox did. Luckily, they can afford to rest Roethlisberger again next week, as Batch should be enough to take out the Browns, but with a rematch with Cincinnati and a Monday nighter in Indy looming on the horizon....... They need a healthy Roethlisberger out there to even think about a split in those two.

Yesterday's game may not have been a thriller, but both teams came to play, and played a physical game despite being banged up. There's a reason why these are two of the most storied franchises in the NFL and have probably the two most devoted fan bases in the league. You could really see at the end of the game by the words of the coaches and players that there is a mutual respect between these two teams. The Packers are a class organization and my hat is off to them for playing their butts off when they had every excuse to fold up their tent and go home.

Unfortunetely for the Pack, throwing Rodgers out there with this disgrace of an NFL team would ruin his career.
I have to take issue with this. This is a beat-up team that isn't really good right now, but I don't think they disgraced the city, their fans, or the league with their effort yesterday.

Anyone who has watched Pittsburgh's games vs. Jacksonville and Green Bay who doesn't think Roethlisberger is as valuable to his team as almost any QB in the league needs to be on medication. Without him, they would go nowhere.

Agree, it was an oddly hard fought game by two banged up teams. Question though, if you're a Steeler WR, who would you rather see under center, Batch or Maddox? Maddox makes untimely picks, yes, that's obvious, and looked terrible against JAX...but at least he's had relativey recent success through the air...if you're Ward or Randle-El -- ignoring the fact that the Steelers won DESPITE Batch yesterday, and that a guy like Ward isn't concerned with personal stats -- do you want a game manager-type QB (Batch) or a guy who will be hit or miss like Maddox, but his "hits" will at least get you some yardage/TDs and open up the offense a bit?

Sing it, brother.I've been saying this for over a year now. That is a COMPLETELY different offense without Roethlisberger. I get so tired of hearing about Roethlisberger's "All-Pro caliber handing off" by the FF nuts on this board sometimes....

I think any player will tell you he wants to see the guy QBing that gives the team the best chance to win. Right now, sadly, that's Batch. Whether or not they truly believe that, only they know.
